Wow this seems amazing. Although, I thought that the prices would be much more expensive, especially with Haruna's finish. I thought that this was from the Fender custom shop but just branded Squier; I'm not even sure if Squier has a custom shop lol. However, it seems that this is just a Japanese thing... *sigh*

Thanks for the news!

EDIT: I just realised that Tomo's bass is actually called BLUEtus instead of BRUtus lol. It's probably Tomomi's play on words though, haha. Oh katakana~

Time to start saving up $1,800, I guess.

The price is actually expensive for Squiers. These are at the high end of the Squier range.

The sparkle finish on Haruna's doesn't really look like her actual guitar, but sparkle finishes are really hard to do and there's no way they could do it exactly like hers for that price.

It's actually not too bad of a price assuming the hardware is decent and guitars are built at a decent factory.  The Jim Root Squiers play real nice and they are about $400.

I'm definitely excited though! I just bought a tele so I'm definitely going to get Mami's JazzMaster to go along with my Tele and Strat!

I'm seriously thinking of how I can buy all three. I will at least need to sell a couple of my existing cheaper guitars.

I don't usually go for signature guitars but this is a special case, even if they're not exact copies.

I've planned to quit playing instrument (in my case, it's a bass).  Delinquent  Then this news came up. I've love Bluetus (we called it Brutus all that time) since the first time TOMO played it. and I can't hold myself to ignore it when I finally had a chance to get it  Wew  (or else a copied of the original Bluetus). gotta save up my money for a few months to go and forget about my plan to quit playing instrument.

Well unlike you guys I'm not a musician so I won't buy them but it's awesome for all the fans around the world that dreamed about playing the same instrument as their favorite SCANDAL member! (Even though I suspect many MAMI fans would have preferred the black/rainbow guitar right?)

Also SCANDAL must be really happy with this! Isn't that kind of a huge deal to have FENDER to sell your guitar?! I mean HARUNA, MAMI and TOMO probably looked at hundreds of different designs and all during the years and now their own guitar/bass will be sold there and fans can buy them. I think they must be really happy! Happy

One step more towards world domination =P

A little note on the Brutus/Blutus thing.

To the Japanese, "r" and "l" makes no difference at all so both are essentially correct for them but if you all remember a blog entry Tomo wrote a couple of years ago, the correct name should be Brutus.

Well about the price, I don't think they will sell them at actually ¥60.000 sharp. I saw a Squier CV with MSRP around ¥70.000 on the official site and I found them on the retail only around ¥40.000, so the actual price of their signature probably cheaper than the price listed too CMIIW

It probably depends on how you define "limited edition". I don't see anything in the announcement that says it's limited to any certain number. But any signature design like this is basically a "factory special run" which are one production run and that's it. If they sell really well, they can always do another production run since they don't seem to be promising it to be a limited edition, but often with stuff like this you find they sell out quick, the manufacturer doesn't produce anymore and they become really hard to find really quick. That was the case with my Epiphone Silverburst Thunderbird bass (one of the guitars I'm going to sell to afford these).

So I'd buy one early if you definitely want one. I think it's unlikely you will be able to find one a year after they're released.

Regarding the price, thank you somnean for pointing out that ¥60,000 is only MSRP. Guitars never sell for MSRP. These might sell for a *little* closer because they're signature models and there will probably be a lot of early demand for them, but hopefully it won't be quite so painful for those of us hoping to get all 3 of them Happy

Not sure if they are going to be actually sold through US dealers, but there are places like Rakuten or eBay where people can import guitars for you.

Oh btw about the price, the Jim Root signature squier is MSRP $600 but only sold at $400 so it's possible Scandal's signature guitars will be around that price.

There's no US/international announcement and I would strongly doubt there will be, but I plan to order mine from Ishibashi, I'm sure they will carry them: https://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/

I think they might have a ¥50,000 minimum for overseas orders, but these guitars might end up being that price individually, and if not I think it will still be cheaper to just order one from them and then add a strap or cable or something to get it to the minimum price than it will be to order one from Ebay or Rakuten. (Ishibashi also has an Ebay store but they always mark up the price by like $200 - you can literally find the exact same items for sale on their own site for much less, even specific individual used items.)

I bought my Japanese Jazzmaster from Ishibashi and had it shipped to the US, and I've also shopped at both their Shibuya and Ochanomizu stores in person, so I know they're reputable and have good customer service. They speak English by email too; you could probably even ask them if they're going to carry these.

i really want that jazzmaster. but yea kinda pricy for a Squirer. Though its an artist series might justify the price. i might not be able to get a chance to grab one locally anyway. importing a guitar here is kinda risky  White Flag

Pity it'll be out only in the summer as I will be in Tokyo next month. Sad

But as spacecadet has pointed out, have to be quick to get 'em online when they're out. I'm sure the local fans wanna get their mitts on these babies just as bad!!!

I don't think we should be making assumptions about their availability just yet. Fender have plenty of signature guitars which they still continue to produce years after their initial release, for example, the Jim Root Telecaster has been in the Fender catalog for a number of years and is still in production. I'm not saying it's always the case, so I'll certainly be buying Haruna's signature model as soon as it becomes available, but unless Fender/Squire state that they will be a factory special run or limited edition, we shouldn't start panicking just yet. I imagine it would be in Squire's best interest to keep them in production as these are the perfect models to inspire younger children, especially younger girls, to learn to play a musical instrument.

And also, I did see that the finish on the Haruna model looks quite dark, but it's hard to photograph sparkle finishes and make them look as good as they do in person, so it'll be interesting to see how it actually turns out.
