All Girl-Bands

Japan seems to be producing talented All girl-bands (Band as in with instruments). I was watching an old Jdorama "Double Kitchen" I noticed the opening song sounds catchy so with a little help from google found out that it was by "Princess Princess" what surprising is that they are a really popular all girl band during the early 80s to the mid 90s. With that who made it to your "Top All Girl band list "

Here is mine
1.) Scandal - simply because they are the complete package. Especially the chemistry and enjoyment they show from interview - performance - random videos. Just feel happy seeing them.
2.) Stereopony
3.) Eu phoria - they disbanded
4.) Nakanomori Band - they also disbanded
5.) Chatmonchy - starting to like them

i only know a few...

1. SCANDAL - no question asked.. they're number 1 in my heart
2. Stereopony - got to know them in gundam 00's opening song.. they're pretty good..
3. MARIA - Maiko and Aika FTW ~ too bad they disbanded uhh.. last april 2010 if im not mistaken...
4. Chatmonchy - starting to listen at their music

hehe, i only have 2 i heard talking about that ones, tho...but never had the time to listening well

1. Stereopony - my first time band....will be always my number 1 band
2. SCANDAL - right after sp,really close to them, lol xD i have this amazing band^^ is and will be always my 2nd fav band

1) SCANDAL - my first all girl band and they're just awesome XD

-Stereopony - dont really how i got into them, i think it was when i was surfing around looking for SCANDAL and bumped into SP. i didnt know they're a girl band back then and when signed up for SH, i started listening to them [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

As for me, I know:

SCANDAL - the first all girl band that got my attention. And I was just starting to watch BLEACH at that time after reading chapter 1 to 200+, I guess.

Chatmonchy - from the subbed interview of asagi in music japan which features all female bands. Interesting sounds and lyrics and music.

Shounen Knife - these girls are old timer but don't let that fool you. They've been in the Philippines and they like banana chips lol. I think they perform covers or something like that.

Stereopony - I got to know this band through nikid and since then, I've been listening to them.

MARIA - formed by ZONE's ex bassist. Composed of two of everything, except drums . Good music and outstanding performances.

ZONE - this band started the term bandol (band-idol) and composed of 4 girls. They eventually disbanded but their music lives on.

SCANDAL - Got to know them from Bleach, got hooked ever since.
Stereopony - Bleach as well, whaddya know.
MARIA - Valkyria Chronicles (See a pattern? xD)
Does Hokago Tea Time count? Yes, it is another band I got to know from an anime lol.

mine:
1. ZONE: discovered them when I was watching MTV around 2002 I guess...They continue to live inside my heart until now...
2. SCANDAL: discovered them while searching for ZONE...while they look identical at a glance, but their music is different...
3. Stereopony: Gundam 00 xD...a newcomer at the time, but had such a deep meaning behind their songs...
4. Chatmonchy: I say they're the greatest among active girl-bands right now, they broke Nippon Budoukan's record as the fastest girl-band to held a concert there since their debut. Will SCANDAL break their record? I hope so...

Some other girl-band I know:
- Princess Princess: Girl band of the 80's, my favourite song is 'Diamond'...
- Shounen Knife: Also girl band of the 80's, but AFAIK they're still active. The only original member left was the vocalist.
- MARIA: Lead by MAIKO (ex-ZONE). Too bad they're no longer active.
- EU-PHORIA: This is one heck of a girl-band, love the vocalist and guitarist too bad they disbanded. The guitarist, TOMO-ZO is sooooo good with her guitar >.<
- THE PINK PANDA: Punk anyone?? This punk band is formed by 2 ex-gravure idols' idea they were they bassist and the vocalist of this band. Just because they're gravure idols, doesn't mean you should underestimate their skill though. The bassist even released a bass lesson video focusing on slap technique. They disbanded though.
- BLiSTAR: After the bassist left, ex-members of THE PINK PANDA continue to perform as BLiSTAR.
- Gacharic Spin: This band also self-proclaimed as the most powerful girl-band, and they're not kidding, their music rocks! ex-bassist of THE PINK PANDA combined with ex-guitarist of EU-PHORIA creates pretty cool rock music, you should check them out...
- Bye-Bye Boy: A jazz girl-band, HARUNA is a close friend with the vocalist, Haneyuri.
- HONEYSAC: They performed on SXSW 2009 in Austin and I once exchanged message with the vocalist (lol, unimportant info ) although I have yet listened to their songs.

i know some, but some of them are not rock bands.. a girl group i guess?

I know of a few that haven't been listed, and generally aren't that well known even though they have some awesome music.

Note: The likes of Morning Musume and SNSD aren't band's, they're groups.

For me it's :

SCANDAL - Discover them in 2008
Stereo pony - Got to know them with BLEACH's ending
chatmonchy - Huum, I don't remember how I discover them xD
ZONE - I love them, how they broke-up ....
Buono! - An idol band, I like them because their songs are catchy
MARIA - I don't remember how I discover them too xD

ZONE, MARIA, Eu Phoria, Nakanomori Band, Stereopony, Chatmonchy, The Pink Panda, and Blistar are bands I've been following since they debuted.

Theres also Whiteberry which was pretty big back then just before ZONE came out.

And not forgetting Super Egg Machine which was also really good but disbanded a few years ago. They sound a little like Chatmonchy.

For ones with instruments, I really only know of SCANDAL

But, there is an all-girl Techno group called Perfume.

Eh.. I don't really know many girlbands. I only know SCANDAL, Oreska Band, Chatmoncy and Stereopony because of Bleach, and ZONE because of SCANDAL. Well, it's not surprising because I'm a type of person who prefers a mellower sound but there's an exemption: Avril Lavigne and SCANDAL. Hehehehehe.
