Thanks for so many great tips on Japanese all-girls bands!
BAND MAID was not mentioned too often, but I suppose everybody here knows them.

I am not very much into idol groups, but this one really caught my attention: Country Girls

Hey there! I used to be a fan of those bands! Ironically, Prettier than Pink briefly reformed in Los Angeles after the turn of millennium with two members of Fatal Posporos and one member from Kelts Kross, another "riot grrrl" band I enjoyed listening to in the 1990s.

Does anyone here listen to The Peggies? They're a trio and they have kind of a punk rock edge to their sound.

The Peggies have a lot of the 1980's early alternative sound to them, to my ear. Especially the vocalist. That style of in key but unrefined vocals was super common in alternative bands back then, and it fits on top of this style of music really well.

I know this is kind of unrelated from this topic but I admire Beyonce's 10-piece all-female backing band called Suga Mama.

Scanned through this quickly, and maybe I missed it's mention, but how were The Runaways left out?  Arguably the first all-girl, hard rock band:

Some other bands that I like:

L7
The Slits
Girlschool
Crucified Barbara
Babes In Toyland
Vixen
Band-Maid
Stereopony
Rick Rack

Nita Strauss (Iron Maidens, Alice Cooper) announced recently she is putting together an all-female band for an album. Don't know the name yet, but I bet they will be very good. She is an incredible player, especially live.

It's a bit older, but Fanny had top 40 U.S. hits in the early 1970's. There were some bands in the 1960's, too, like Goldie and the Gingerbreads.

Don't think I saw Bratmobile listed, they were around in the early 1990's (in the U.S. northwest ala Nirvana).

Does Pink Lady count?

I have found an intersting list of japanese all girl bands includes more than 500, someone shares my interest:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Some of this I do not know or they are not all girl bands for me, because they have male drummer. Some more I know which are not listed, especially those that have emerged in recent years. Now I can count over 600 to 700.

Worldwide there are over 4600 all girl bands listed from the same guy, that is crazy:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Which means 15% from Japan alone.

I have another list of more than 70 japanese non all girl bands but with female drummers. Japan is unique Happy

Gladly I fall asleep in the car and while sitting [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
