SCANDAL recently set up an account on AWA, a Japan-only music streaming app, and each member has created their own playlist of favorite songs while on their world tour.

Interesting how eclectic their tastes are.

You know, it would be interesting to share musical ideas with them, as far as interesting bands they may not have considered. Their combined tastes are so broad, that I'm willing to bet they would find something of value from just about any sub-genre of rock. I'd love to know their opinions on songs like "Just Like Heaven" by the Cure (Goth-lite), "Radio Free Europe" by R.E.M. (jangle-pop), or a whole bunch of other stuff from genres like early Grunge, 1980's Alternative, early pop-Punk, etc.

It's probably on purpose but kinda sad to see so few (i.e. only one) Japanese artists. Oh well, as long as they don't start singing whole songs in Engrish, that should be fine.

They did specify these were their favorite songs from when they were on tour. I'm willing to bet they made a point of listening to music from North America and Europe while they were touring there.

OMG Haru's bringing back some old memories with Know Your Enemy TOJ Onion

That was the first song in my life that I have replayed over and over again for weeks that I lost count of it and thought I was going crazy cos I was too obsessed xD

I enjoy the fact that Tomomi likes Blur. Some of their western tastes are kind of predictable - Foo Fighters and Green Day are really popular bands, even today. But Blur was only really active and popular in the UK in the early to mid 90's, and were never nearly as popular elsewhere, not even the US. The fact that Tomomi's even heard of them in Japan, much less counts them as a favorite, means she's either got some pretty cool friends to guide her tastes, or she sought out and found them herself. (It is kind of a random song for her to pick from them, though; not sure why she picked that one.)

Well maybe partly as it is hip in Japan to like British bands but I know they all like the Beatles, they visited the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing while they were in London.
Then again many British bands visit Japan.

Actually, Blur is still going strong, especially in the UK! Their latest album came out 3 months ago - got universal acclaim and praise for it too.
They are extremely popular and loved in Europe (except for the Scandanavian countries) and Australia.

Well, "still going strong" makes it sound like they've had a continuous career. They'd been on hiatus since 2001 and "The Magic Whip" is their first album in 12 years. (Their last album before the hiatus was pretty terrible.) I guess it did go to #5 in Japan, which I didn't realize. But "Stereotypes" is from "The Great Escape", an album released in 1995. So she's still combing the back catalog.

Not sure what your point is. They reunited for a couple of one-off shows, in the same way Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin "reunite" periodically. The Magic Whip is their first new album since the hiatus.
