HA HA! I feel yah on that.  I have about 5 different group sets when it comes to specific types of friends so the guys (gals) I've met here on SH are the ones I talk to the most about Jrock/Pop, anything Japan, and then some.  We pretty much went beyond that point after a meet or two and joke around like brother & sisters now so don't be intimidated by the SoCal group whatsoever the first time you meet us. HA HA!

As far as big public events go, a few (if not all) of us will be attending SD Comic-Con, AX, and AM2.  (I assume, but I'm pretty sure we're all going to those).  Plus whatever events pop up throughout the year afterwards.  For the time being, AX is the best event to meet a few of us in the open if you're on the shy side, so follow the other SoCal members on FB for real time updates.

Other than that, welcome to SH! I didn't get the chance to welcome you in your Intro thread when it was up. :D

SH USA has been pretty active the past few months but this thread hasn't reflected current activity for a while so it's good that you've bumped it back up as a reminder.  "Puts me in check to start getting active again here actually... HA HA!"

Anyways, where exactly are you located in LA?

I doubt I'd get intimidated lol. It'd be more like striking gold~

Aww man! My friend and I weren't able to get tix for Comic-Con :(tis sad lol. And I doubt I'll be going to AX. Maybe I'll hit up AM2 if I ever have the time too xD. The first I ever went to AX... it wasn't as grand as I thought it would be.

I live in the South Bay, really not too far from LAX lol. How about yourself?

Speaking of AX, who's going? I'm planning to go for the first time this year. I'm actually moving to Massachusetts in August so I may not get another opportunity for several years, so I'd be interested in meeting up with any SH members who are also going. I might make a separate topic later, but I just wanted to get an idea here of how many people are going.

Yeah, a meet-up would be cool. Most of our usual SH SoCal group will be going + a few from out of state, so there will probably be at least 8-10+ of us that will be there during most of the days. The ones that I know are going so far are wat, zimbobbio, bigOeyez, pacrimguru, alnet88, Noodles, propglenn, Mercurius, DBAG, and myself.

I believe a few of us will be dressing up (one or two possibly in SCANDAL uniforms--I know I definitely will be), so anyone else is welcome to join us if you'd like haha

Yeap, I'm on for AX.  At first I was only thinking about Sunday but the Jrock shows this year seem pretty interesting so I may go the entire weekend... depending. :D  I'll probably go to AM2 for a day but just know that it's no longer free this year.  Pre-reg for general admission is $5 for single day and $10 for all three, $10 at the door for single and $20 for three day (Premium Passport is extra).

Luckily AM2 isn't trying to compete with AX this time around and scheduled it in August instead. It's possible that the exhibit hall might get better since the vendors have a month gap to restock and decide on doing another con or not.  Wouldn't hurt at least.

@ Fruiteh:  Yeah SDCC is near impossible if you weren't an attendee the previous year.  Presale priority goes to registered attendees at the end of each SDCC so there's a minimal number of tickets available to the general public afterwards.  Honestly, it used to never be this bad up until 02-04 when the mainstream movie industry and such started showing interest.  The absolute worst was when Twilight/Harry Potter fans started storming the con for those particular reasons only... bleh... "Comics? No. I'm just here for Harry Potter."

But I agree on AX.  The best year(s) was during its final year in Long Beach.  "Anna Tsuchiya made that year happen for me". :)Compared to the LA Center, it's fairly smaller but the atmosphere/scenery is a billion times better than the industrial complexes of LA.  The big water fountain was ace and the backdrop of the seaport was like heaven to the cosplayers and photographers.  Likewise with SDCC, it wasn't as crowded back then than it is now so it was pretty fun while it lasted.  Nowadays, it just feels like AX is all about the money.
Onion Tsk

Anyways, I'm located in Temecula so I've to dedicate a lot of time and will power when it comes to hanging out. HA HA!  You're in a good location actually since we meet up around the Sawtelle, Torrance, and Little Tokyo ares so just keep those general spots in mind. (Not to mention various show venues within the city limits).

With that being said, here's another event (besides the big conventions):

- J-Music Live Viewing 2013
- July 4-7 2013
- Los Angeles, CA; Regal Cinema LA Live
- $20 (Spans the entire weekend... I think?)
- http://jmusicliveviewing2013.com (Website/Virtual Poster)
- http://www.en.barks.jp/news/?id=1000002225 (Barks Article)

Simply a viewing of a few concerts presented on a theater screen.  I'm 100% sure this event is in line with AX but totally separate since you have to pay for this event... too. :b  Honestly there's other means to watching the shows but how many chances do you get to see it on the big screen?

Pretty much all of it is Jrock but a viewing of LUNA Sea and Perfume are scheduled on the 5th and 7th respectively.  Once again, these cost money too... additional to the $20 that you're paying for the above event... Sad

(AX + Live) + (You + Money + Cash) = Extortion ... HA HA! Yeah I know I'm not the best promoter in the world.

@ Noodles: *tears* You're a sweet man... but you broke my tainted heart about lunch!  Food I can do without but there is something else on the menu that I wouldn't mind. /smug

From last years AX, a few of the people that signed the SCANDAL petition were supposedly fans but didn't know or were reluctant to sign up on SH.  We should have gotten their contact info on the petition and invited them afterwards but it is what it is.  I wouldn't mind doing it again this year.  Maybe start a small fund and print out tiny decals/cards to give out with the signatures?  It could backlash on SH if they end up just tossing them on the floor and AX tracks us down for "littering". HA HA! Just a thought.

Since AX starts tomorrow:

Let's do an official SCANDAL HEAVEN meet-up on Friday Day 2 at 3:00 pm outside of the Concourse Hall (map here; it's where it says "Dance sponsored by Emazing Lights"), right before RAM RIDER's meet-and-greet. For those who don't know, RAM RIDER is the writer of Almond Crush's song "Koi no Hajimari wa Diet" on the LE A of Taiyou Scandalous. If anyone owns a copy of TaiScan, be sure to bring it and we'll meet RAM RIDER as a group!

Also, most of us will probably be going to Porno Graffitti's panel from 1:30-2:30 right before the RR M&G.

And for anyone who would like to meet up on Day 1 tomorrow, our group will be meeting at 10:30 am on the inside of the main front doors of the Convention Center (on the other side of these doors) on the SW corner of Pico & Figueroa, and then we could head over for the red carpet and opening ceremonies. If you'd want to join us later instead, we could meet up for lunch/dinner. Feel free to PM me and ask for my number.

We'll be figuring out meet-ups for Days 3 & 4 soon, and I'll post about them here again.

Hope to see you guys there!

@ Geofreak: MASSACHUSETTS?! Woah you're way up in the North-East to be exact.  I don't know anyone personally close by except for NathanielG but he's over in NY for school.  I haven't seen him on for a long while now so he could be back home in Singapore now? :/

Actually, now that you're on the East coast, you can do coverage of any events going on around the area.  Even start up some meets and we'll do an East vs West SH online event or something. HA HA!

Man, what prompted the move to the East?

Woo, 5 years is a long time!  Especially when you're dedicating most of it to school... time totally drags! HA HA!  It's for a good reason though so you're head is in the right place.

Study hard and make it happen!  Make the big bucks so you can see SCANDAL live in Japan rather than live here in the States! (Although both are good, Japan has better incentives). Thumbs up  I'm rooting for you to spread the SCANDAL bug over there too!

So a Christmas trip to Japan is looking pretty good right now. A few of us will be in Tokyo for Best Christmas on the 23rd and Countdown Japan on the 29th (that's if Celga/Rinkya come through with our SM tix). We will also be taking in Perfume on the 24th and 25th at the Tokyo Dome.

If there's any other SH USA people planning to be there let me know!

Countdown 13/14 is a bust! I guess there were lottery rounds and Rinkya couldn't get us tix in the last two rounds so it's not going to happen for us. We were only going to do the one day that SCANDAL was there and I think the best seats are reserved for the four day pass holders. Bummer.

Pre sale for Best Xmas starts in a couple days so I notified Rinkya. Gonna bow my head, close my eyes real tight and pray super hard......

If price is not an issue, there's always the secondary market. That's how I got Best Xmas 4 tickets last year. I was going to Japan and found out that they were playing when I was there, and I HAD to see them no matter what.

EDIT: On a completely different topic, those of you in the Los Angeles area should check this out:

http://realescapegame.com/regla01/

It's a puzzle game originally from Japan in which you have to solve puzzles to "escape" from some story-related situation. They've been doing this for about a year and a half in San Francisco, with over half a dozen different types of events. It's really fun, and I've been to almost all of them. If there's enough interest from the LA market, they'll probably bring over the subsequent puzzles, which have included an Evangelion themed one (my favorite) and another one where you are actually trapped in a room (in the other ones, you're only trapped in the story). Check it out!

Sounds interesting though. If they came up with a Phoenix Wright theme, that would be perfect!  /smug  It does look like a good group activity so I'll keep tabs on that site.
