the brilliant green (ザ・ブリリアント・グリーン; colloquially known as BuriGuri) is a Japanese alternative rock band from Kyoto that formed in 1995. Their major debut single under Sony Music Entertainement, "Bye Bye Mr. Mug", was released in 1997. The band are most famous for their singles "There will be love there -Ai no Aru Basho-" (dorama Love Again's theme song), "Tsumetai Hana" and "Sono Speed de" (dorama Over Time theme song). In 2001, the brilliant green were named in Time Magazine's '10 Best Bands on Planet Earth' article, alongside Radiohead and U2. All of the brilliant green's songs feature lyrics from Kawase Tomoko, while the majority songs (including all single A-sides) were composed by Okuda Shunsaku, Matsui Ryo composed the rest of the songs. Vocalist Kawase Tomoko has also released solo work under the pseudonyms Tommy february6 and Tommy heavenly6. In 2008, their contract with Sony Music Entertainment ended, and on December 1, 2009, the band announced that they had signed with Warner Music Japan.

Please suggest a good song to start with....
if not so much of a burden also include songs from Tommy february6 and Tommy heavenly6
thanks in advance

First, their latest album isn't so great, so that probably won't be a great start.

My personal favorite songs from the band are:

- tsumetai hana
- Hello Another Way
- Angel Song
- Forever To Me
- Ash Like Snow

I listen to an absolute ton on Tommy Heavenly6 lol... hrmm a good song to start... the first one I heard was "I'm Gonna Scream"

I think my favorite may be "+gothic Pink+". "Pray" is really popular. "fell in love with you" I would put in the underappreciated-gem bucket.

First of let me thank this thread for reigniting my interest in The Brilliant Green (and Tomoko Kawase).

At first I had only two songs to their name, "Ash Like Snow" and "Papermoon".

After checking out just ONE of their album, The Winter Album, I am completely astounded as to why I didn't dive deeper into their music.

Let me say this. Tomoko Kawase has one hell of a voice. She can rock it out like our SCANDAL girls or she can hypnotize you with her melodic voice.

Songs to check out:

Poppy lovers:
Lonely in Gorgeous

Rock (or the less sugary songs) lovers:
Ash Like Snow
Papermoon
Flowers*
Forever To Me*
The Night Has Pleasant Time*
Day After Day*
Rainy Days Never Stays*
*Basically the whole freaking Winter Album ..

And this is only the tip of the iceberg...

Tomoko / TBG is really threatening SCANDAL as one of my top bands ever... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
