I've noticed that embedding videos using the code doesn't actually work anymore but it'll work if you put it like this: [youtube][/youtube]. As far as I can recall, using the embed code used to work... There is a problem with this though; this only works with youtube videos and such. Videos from dailymotion, vimeo etc... don't exactly work using this method so there's no way that that videos from these sights can be embedded here.

Like this for example:

[youtube][/youtube]:

Embed code:
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HEkerSi5Fig?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's because HTML codes are turned off for the entire forum.

So this:

<img src="http://stat.ameba.jp/user_images/20130223/12/su2009/b5/ff/j/o0480062012431048855.jpg">
<img src="http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lpgicnLwmJ1qe6juqo1_1280.png">
<object
width="560" height="315"><param name="movie"
value="https://www.youtube.com/v/MVg0atbJEHc?hl=en_US&amp;version=3"></param><param
name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param
name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed
src="https://www.youtube.com/v/MVg0atbJEHc?hl=en_US&amp;version=3"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315"
allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Should be this:

That's by using the generic/easy coding.

Anyways, the problem came up when page errors started coming up for other members because a lot of posts contained "^" ">" "<" and such symbols that threw off the scripts.

That's how I remember it at least, might not be it though.

(Not a double post... using for an example)

Although for images, posting the initial html code will result in it showing up as that... but what happens when you press "edit"? It bypasses it somehow and shows up as the actual image when you post after editing.

So if I were to press "edit" in my previous post, there would be two of the same pics.

Not the same case as videos though. The coding disappears when you try to edit the post afterwards. I use [ flash] for my YT vids and they show up fine as well but it doesn't work with vimeo and all the others.

(Just a note: I just double checked with google chrome to see if it holds true to that and it does but the [ img] pics linked beneath the html codes only show up on firefox... or it could just be my anti-virus settings. Either or.)

"Ah, looks like the Ameblo pic was taken down... it was a good one too!"

...

None that I'm familiar with at least. Usually shortcodes ([ youtube], [ dailymotion], etc.) would work if the html was turned on but Forumotion might just only recognize YT regardless because it's become a standard. Although all 3 sites have similar features, YT is more mass user friendly and the others are geared towards a different audience, so I can see where the line is drawn. Actually, if you go into "post reply" the video tab only shows YT and DM, so Vimeo doesn't look like it's supported.

The one thing that boggles me is that Vimeo is flash based so the "flash" shortcode should work like it does with YT... but it doesn't. (Depends on the host actually but that's a different story.)

I haven't really looked into it since YT does the job pretty well but I'd say just link the vids if you're pulling from Vimeo, DM, etc., since htmls are turned off.

Edit: Nevermind... I miss typed the addy in the shortcode.

Dailymotion:

Vimeo:
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/53343304[/vimeo]

It still doesn't look like Vimeo works but that's 2/3 so far. So raw htmls won't work as of now and shortcodes work for YT and DM since Vimeo isn't supported... yet.

Hope that helps a bit.
