I thought Baumkuchen comes from where I am living and more vertical.

Or is it typical or tradition in Japan to have Baumkuchen when they start/open new things? (That is what it means birthplace?)

Check the link I had posted. There's a Japanese version of baumkuchen. The cake itself was introduced to Japan/Hiroshima by a German person, so "birthplace" means that Hiroshima was literally the birthplace of the Japanese version of baumkuchen.
