Me and my friend are traveling to Tokyo, and will take the bullet train to Osaka for the weekend to see the concert. While we're in Tokyo, we'll be staying at an apartment that is about 150 meters from Yoyogi park, and the total cost is about $100 USD per night. Here's a link to the place we're staying; scroll down to the map to see how ridiculously interesting the location is. Walking distance from Yoyogi Park, Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, and a bunch of museums and universities and such.

I haven't tried AirBnB in my previous trips to Japan but those who have highly recommend it.

Out of interest, were you originally recommending hotels near the Shiroten for any particular reason?

It is not near Shiroten. It will be held at Izumiotsu Phoenix, which is 35 km/22 miles south from the Shiroten/Kyobashi area.

I also highly recommend using Airbnb for accommodations in Japan. I booked a place in the heart of Shibuya earlier this year when I went for PERFECT WORLD. It was nice, very convenient, and reasonably priced. I like staying at Airbnb places better than staying at hotels; it makes you feel like less of a tourist, haha.

Might do that. My friend and I are flying in and out of Tokyo and spending most of our time there. We're taking the train down to Osaka on Saturday morning and coming back on Monday morning. We'll need to find some inexpensive lodgings for Saturday and Sunday night.

Pretty serious about going to Japan now. I was on the fence earlier, but I'm trying to go now regardless. Will definitely be in Osaka for a few days. Still very early in my planning, but trying to make something concrete by the end of the month.

How are people going about acquiring tickets?

Also I will be staying in Japan for a week with the concert being at the middle of the trip. Any suggestions on places that I could go? It's August so festivals are happening all around.

It's apparently a park just to the South of Osaka (at least, that's what google maps seems to think). It appears that there are a couple of train stations leading from downtown Osaka that are within a mile or so of the venue, so should be relatively easy to get there.

The station you should navigate to is Izumiotsu Station.

Say you're coming from Shin-Osaka Station. You would take the Midosuji Line towards Tennoji. Ride 7 stops to Nankai-Namba Station. Get off and walk a few blocks to switch to the Nankai Line towards Kansai Airport. Ride 5 stops to Izumiotsu Station.

Then, apparently there's a shuttle bus that'll take you to the venue:

According to the promoter of the event, the public on-sale for tickets is May 21st from 10:00 am JST. If you don't want to try for resale tickets on Yahoo! and the like, you could always still try for that. You would just need to send a shopping service a link to it (TBA later) and they should be able to get you a ticket easily.

I'm very fortunate in that I'm gonna be in Japan for karate-related reasons around this time anyway so the second I heard about the anniversary concert I booked up my hostel and organised travel to Osaka whilst demanding my friend in Tokyo prepare himself to buy us tickets!

Yes, that LA gathering was a blast! We should all plan a similar meetup the day before the show.
I'll be traveling all over Japan prior to the concert and will be arriving in Osaka that weekend.

There were a bunch of SH members at the LA and Anaheim shows last May. On Thursday, about 20 of us met the band at the airport to welcome them to the USA. After that, we all went to hang out at a Cheesecake Factory restaurant for an hour or two before going to a rented condominium for a cookout party. I would guess there were at least 20 SH members there, probably more? There were people from Europe, Canada, and Japan who all got together. The next day, we were all in line for the LA show by noon (some people were there before sunrise), and then we all did the stand in line thing all day again on Saturday for that show.

Everyone was really great, very chill and relaxed, and fun to talk to. It's why I hope we can get together to hang out a bit again for this show. It would be nice to see some of those same people again.

I had to leave, too. I had an early flight Sunday morning, and I had to drive all the way back to LA for my hotel. So, I left shortly after the concert ended.
