Directly hearing impressions of listeners who attended the Japan leg of SCANDAL WORLD TOUR 2022 “MIRROR”!!

Episode #120 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 QWfuKsk

HARUNA: This time, to celebrate the completion of the Japan leg of our world tour...

This is a special called "MIRROR-rete shimatta!" (見られてしまった; mirarete shimatta; to be seen) where we'll be reading impressions of our concerts & talking on the phone to fans!

HARUNA: It's called "MIRROR-rete shimatta."

RINA: "MIRROR" is the only pun... Yeah, it flows.

HARUNA: Let's read one message.

Asshi

Good evening. Good work on your back-to-back concerts in Fukuoka and Hiroshima!

I had LASIK surgery today. I'm in good health and have no major injuries nor illnesses, not to mention never having surgery before, I was pretty nervous while sitting in the waiting room.

At that time, a music box version of "Ivory" suddenly started playing in the waiting area in front of the operating room! At first I thought I was mishearing things, but the soft rhythm was definitely the one from "Ivory," and MAMI's singing started playing in my head.

Thanks to that, I felt a little less nervous, and the surgery was a success!

It's nice to go see concerts, but it's also nice when SCANDAL suddenly pops up in your everyday life!

TOMOMI: I'd love to hear that! I'm sure a music box version of it would be good.

HARUNA: There are versions like that out thereー

MAMI: We've never listened to them...

RINA: I have.

MAMI: No way!

HARUNA: What song?

RINA: "Yoake no Ryuuseigun."

HARUNA: Ahー! But I totally get that.

MAMI: What kind of genre would that fall under...

TOMOMI: But this makes us happy.

HARUNA: It's nice when "SCANDAL suddenly pops up."

"Ivory" and "Yoake no Ryuuseigun" seem appropriate for music box treatment. But "Stamp!" ?

•The episode starts with this. They mention how TOMO had LASIK done about 11 years ago. She says she had to wear unbelievably oversized, lame sunglasses afterwards, which the others laugh at and say that they remember those. MAMI says that she remembers her saying that it was so bright and tears wouldn't stop coming out. RINA asks if it's okay to go to work on the same day you get it done (which is what TOMO did - they were in the studio on that day), and the others say that it should be. TOMO says that you feel emotional the next day after realizing that you can see better.

•Next, they say that they'll be calling some of the listeners. The first one they talk to is from Tokushima and went to the Kobe and Osaka performances of the tour. She says that she was really close basically right in front of TOMO and it was pretty overwhelming; it was very moving for her. The band says that makes them happy to hear. HARU asks her if she's seen them live before. She says she has, but this was her first time attending an album-based tour. RINA says that for her to have such a good seat, she must be a MANIA member. She says she is, and a MANIA PREMIUM member at that. HARU says that there was about a three-month gap in between those two shows, and asks if there were any differences between them. She says that for the Osaka performance (the latter one) she could feel more strongly that this was a tour that was done in support of an album. HARU asks if she attended alone. She says that they attended both shows with her boyfriend.

•HARU asks her if there's anything she'd like to tell them. She says that about four years ago, she and her bf had decided to break up. Six months later she told him that she'd like for them to try dating again; they did so, and are still dating to this date. She says that around the time when she wanted them to get back together, he was really into SCANDAL. She watches anime and thought of them as being an artist who did some anime songs 10 years ago, and didn't really know much about them. She then borrowed all his SCANDAL stuff like CDs, albums, Blu-rays and also watched stuff together. That's when she realized how cool and great of a band they are. She also mentions that she's the same age as RINA. She was really impressed how someone like her is in a rock band, and decided that she wanted to see them live. About three months after they got back together, SCANDAL was on their Fuzzy Summer Mood tour and they decided to go together. This was both their first times seeing them and so were both really impressed. She says it's one thing to see them on a screen or listen to their recorded music, but it's a completely different thing to see/hear them live. That's how she got really hooked on SCANDAL. She says that she and her bf still have uneasy times when they're really cautious of each other, but even so, since they have such a huge thing in common when it comes to being passionate about SCANDAL, their bonds now are deeper than they ever were before. She says that getting to directly tell them about how they've given her such wonderful times is something she's really grateful for. The band goes, "Aww!" and thanks her. They say they're really happy to hear that. RINA says that it's kind of crazy that that happened around the time that "Fuzzy" came out, and says, "Sorry about that!" while they all laugh.

•The next listener they call went to the first Tokyo performance (the semi-finale of the tour). He says that this was his first time going to one of their album tours in about 10 years. The band goes, "Ohh!" RINA goes, "That's quite a big gap." The listener laughs and says that it was. He says that from the first song it encapsulates you in the world of the album, which he thought was impressive. He mentions that he's read the interviews they've done for this album, and while watching the concert he could tell that the band really holds this album close to them. That's why he was really happy he was able to see this vibe and all that. The band says it makes them happy to hear that. RINA says wanting to convey that feeling was even stronger than usual with this album. TOMO asks what album tour the listener attended 10 years ago. The others think it's Queens are trumps, which the listener says it was. MAMI says that they're now basically totally different people compared to back then. HARU asks what the trigger was for him to come to an album tour of theirs for the first time in 10 years. He thinks a bit and says that there isn't really any one clear thing. He then says that he started liking SCANDAL when he was a student but apologizes that he kind of distanced himself from them. Several years passed of him not listening to them. Then, he saw the music video for "Stamp!" and it made him go, "Oh, was SCANDAL always like this?", which makes the band laugh. He started listening to them again and decided to go to BEST Xmas last year after seeing news about it. It had been about two years since he had attended a concert in general due to the pandemic and thought why not go. He then decided at the last minute to get tickets to the tour. The band thanks him and say it makes them happy to hear that.

•They then close out the episode. They say it was fun and that they had good convos. They're also impressed at how well their fans can express/convey their feelings, thoughts, etc. MAMI says that it feels like the band's expressiveness is at zero percent, or even in the negatives. Like, "It was great!" or "Love you guys!" HARU says that they'll continue with phone calls for the next episode too. They also say they'll be starting the North America leg of their tour soon. They wonder how things are going to be, especially since people are able to vocalize during concerts (unlike in Japan). They ask their overseas listeners to come out to the tour.

A fan who attended SCANDAL WORLD TOUR 2022 “MIRROR” tells their too-perfect thoughts to the band, which makes HARUNA go, "You should write a live report exactly as is!"

Episode #121 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 5KShuNQ

HARUNA: We'll be doing the "MIRROR-rete shimatta!" special this time too!
"MIRROR-rete shimatta"...comes from "MIRROR."

RINA: Yep, that's how it flows!

HARUNA: Let's call some listeners now and hear their thoughts! Hello!

(*On the phone with "Rinati")

Rinati: Hello! Good evening! This is Rinati!

All: Helloー!

HARUNA: Thanks for coming to our tour!

Rinati: It was so much fun!

TOMOMI: Happy to hear!ー!

HARUNA: First, let's hear your thoughts on the tour!

Rinati: Yes, I attended the Kanazawa and Tokyo performances. My impression of the song "MIRROR" changed when I saw it live. It's so cool and it gave me chills.

The times when I let my body move to the music felt so comfy! Also, there were so many songs you guys haven't played in a while, especially "DOLL" played during the encore of the Tokyo finale performance. We had waited so long for that song to come back...

All: Ohー!

TOMOMI: We didn't play it for a long time.

Rinati: Spinning the towels, everything getting exciting... Also, it was so much fun when TOMOMI suddenly started singing during "SCANDAL BABY" in Kanazawa!

HARUNA: Kanazawa, huh? Yeah.

Rinati: At any rate, I was captivated by your outfits, production, performance, MCs--everything about the four of you, and I felt so much happiness with these concerts! Thank you so much for these special concerts and awesome album!

TOMOMI: Thank you tooー

HARUNA: That was perfect!

MAMI: That was wonderful!

RINA: You sure summed it upー!

HARUNA: You can write this up as a live report exactly as is, can't you??

TOMOMI: Why not get a job at Natalie (*A music-related news site)?

Rinati: Actually...

All: What is it??

Rinati: The first venue I went to for a solo SCANDAL concert was Nakano Sunplaza for BABY ACTION (2011). After our high school classes ended, I went with my friend who taught me about SCANDAL. This time as well I went with this friend to the MIRROR tour...

All: Ehーー!?

Rinati: The two of us have been SCANDAL fans for over 10 years.

TOMOMI: That makes me happy...

HARUNA: I'm all emotional.

RINA: Too emotional...

MAMI: Thank you...

TOMOMI: You guys are good friends.

Rinati: 10+ years went by in no time. I'm also getting emotional...

HARUNA: Wait, Rinati, you don't live in Kanazawa...?

Rinati: Right. I live not in Kanazawa but in Kanagawa.

MAMI: Meaning...

Rinati: This also served as a trip for my friend and I. We came from Kanagawa to Kanazawa.

MAMI: That's awesome. I'd love to take a trip!!

HARUNA: Seeing your favorite band, going on a trip--that's the best...

Rinati: Kanazawa was the best!

•The episode starts with this.

•They then say that they'll be reading some messages sent in about the tour. HARU reads the first one from a listener who attended the Sapporo performance. This listener is one they've talked to before on the phone (she was pregnant then), and she says in this message that her dream is to raise her recently-born baby into a bonafide SCANDAL fan and go to concerts together, and thinks that that dream will definitely come true. The band congratulates the listener on the birth of their baby.

•TOMO reads the next message from a listener who attended the Hiroshima performance. They mention that their older brother was the one who introduced SCANDAL to them. About six months ago things happened and they kind of had a falling out, which is why they were unsure about going with their brother to the MIRROR tour. However, they wanted to hear this album played live no matter what and so decided to go with their brother. They went together and did some shopping and stuff beforehand, and then had a great time at the concert. They thank the band for everything and for allowing them to repair their bond. The band says they're glad that the two of them made up.

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener who is writing in for the dialect segment, and who also attended one of their Tokyo performance. The dialect thing doesn't really translate well to English and so I won't be translating that. RINA reads the next message from a listener who attended the Nagoya performance. They're writing this message the day after concert and say that they have muscle pain all throughout their body from it, which makes HARU chuckle. The listener says it's a good kind of muscle pain that makes them remember the concert the day before. MAMI says that the muscle pain after a show is a kind of "present." The other laugh and HARU goes, "That's kind of scary!"

•HARU reads the next message from a listener who attended a Tokyo performance. It's honestly not that interesting and so I also won't be translating it. TOMO reads the next message from a listener who attended the Kanazawa performance. They also say that they have the same birth date as RINA: August 21st. They say that watching the livestream of their 15th anniversary concert last year made for some really great memories. They say that they'll keep being a SCANDAL fan as the band continues to evolve. HARU says that people tend to like things that share similarities to themselves, such as sharing the same birth date.

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener who attended a Tokyo performance. They say it was so much fun to see songs that they listened to in high school being performed live in front of them. They also say that that was their first time seeing a band perform in person. MAMI says that it makes them happy to hear that they chose SCANDAL as their first band to see live. The band thanks everyone who came out their Japan performances.

•They then close out the episode. HARU reads one last message from a listener who plays Ultimate Frisbee and whose message was read during episode 49. They say that SCANDAL's words really helped them at that time when the world championships had been postponed due to the pandemic. They then say that they have something to tell the band: the team that they're on (Swampybarg) will be playing in the world championships that will be held in July in the US. The band claps and congratulates them. The listener also says that they won the Japan championships held last year and ranked first in Japan. They also say that they attended the second Tokyo performance (the last one of the tour), which is when the band talked about how they were going to the US next. They say that they're really happy that both they and the band will both be doing activities in the US at the same time. The band again claps and congratulates them. They say how impressive it is that they're ranked #1 in Japan and will be playing in the world championships. TOMO mentions that it's kind of mirror-like how they will both be doing activities in the US at the same time. The band also talks about how they will continue to record for this program while they're in North America. They also wonder if they'll receive some message from fans while they're there.

The North America leg of SCANDAL WORLD TOUR 2022 “MIRROR” starts from July 9th! Following the condensed month with a travel guide!

Episode #122 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 RRmz9vP

HARUNA: Now then, the North America leg of our world tour is approaching... We're pretty excited; it's been a while, after all.

RINA: It's the first time that we've been away for so long as well.

HARUNA: It's been four years since we've done an NA tour.

MAMI: Yeah, the previous time was in 2018.

RINA: That was already four years ago...

MAMI: This will be our first time in Canada.

TOMOMI: Yeah, we're looking forward to itー

HARUNA: There are also places in the US that we'll be visiting for the first time, so for this episode we'll be bringing you a "North America travel guide" while we also do some prepping. The first day will be in Toronto in Canada, where we're going for the first time. It's on July 9th, which means it's pretty soon!

RINA: We'll leave Japan on the 7th, land, and play the concert right away.

HARUNA: It seems like we'll be struggling with jet lag...

RINA: That's always the case...

TOMOMI: We'll be leaving on the 7th and getting there on the 7th?

MAMI: That means that we'll more or less have the 8th free.

TOMOMI: We'll fix our jet lag in the meantime...

RINA: We'll get adjusted.

MAMI: We have to sleep all day on the 8th...

RINA: No, we have a lot of shoots...

HARUNA: We'll be pretty busy this time.

RINA: This schedule's a pretty crazy one.

HARUNA: It is packed. Now then, Toronto is the capital of Ontario, Canada.

TOMOMI: Isn't Niagara Falls there?

HARUNA: In Toronto?

RINA: Is it?

TOMOMI: Wait, am I wrong?

All: (*silence)

RINA: ...seems like no one knows.

MAMI: (*Looking it up) Ah, it says that Niagara Falls is in Ontario.

(Staff: It seems that it's 2 1/2 hours by bus from Toronto...)

TOMOMI: It's far...

RINA: It is...

TOMOMI: I'd like to go to Niagara Falls... We don't have time to go.

RINA: We don't...

MAMI: Niagara Falls is a place you'd like to go at least once in your life.

TOMOMI: Yeah, I'd like to go.

RINA: It's so impressive.

HARUNA: There are tours that go to it, right? I'd like to go on one.

RINA: I'm sure it'd be fun.

HARUNA: We'd love to go on one of those tours since we'll finally be in the area, but since we have concerts to play...

TOMOMI: Our schedule's pretty tight.

RINA: This schedule makes you go, "Is 24 hours in a day really enough??"; we need to do our best.

HARUNA: We'll arrive in Toronto, play a concert, and then head to New York the next day on the 10th.

RINA: New York is where we played our first overseas concert, which makes a memorable place for us.

HARUNA: In 2007, right? (*It was actually in 2008)

MAMI: It was just before I entered my third year of high school.

TOMOMI: Right.

RINA: We were babies back then.

TOMOMI: Back then, when we arrived in NY and got off the bus, there happened to be someone playing "Ue wo Muite Arukou" on the saxophone. It was totally a coincidence, but I remember feeling Japan for a moment and being really moved...

HARUNA: That's right.

RINA: It feels like the city that gave us our first culture shock.

HARUNA: Staff member Kawai prepared a map of North America, but it's just a blank map... A totally blank map with no locations written on it...

RINA: Yeah, it's really hard to see. Let's check things out and mark it...

This episode was recorded just before the NA tour. This whirlwind tour with a tight schedule is about to finally begin.

While there will be pre-recorded parts in future episodes, we plan to record parts in between schedules in each city played at in the US and Canada.

The content will depend on whatever happens at that time! Look forward to what kind of things the four will catch you up on!

•The episode starts with this.

•First, they decide to mark on the map where Toronto is. MAMI seems to look up a map online and says that Ontario is huge. RINA seems to put a mark where Toronto roughly is. Next, they do New York. Someone tries to mark it, but MAMI goes, "Ahh afjiaskfjafdf (literally what it sounds like lol) - It's more here." The others laugh and RINA seems to put the mark where MAMI tells her to. HARU says that NY is pretty much at the edge of the map. MAMI asks if NY (the city) is in the state of New York. HARU says yes, and that it's New York, New York. Next, they do Boston. HARU says that it's a little above NY. HARU asks what state Boston is in. RINA and a staffer say Massachusetts. RINA reads that it's "one of the oldest cities in the US." MAMI seems to look up NY again and says that NY really is at one of the edges of the country.

•Next, they mark Atlanta. They seem to have trouble trying to mark it on the map (since the map is blank and Georgia is located more inwards). MAMI looks it up and says it's more inwards and above Florida. RINA says that it's pretty far from Boston. MAMI thinks that there must be a time difference (there isn't lol - it's still in the EST area). RINA reads that the Olympics were held there once. HARU says that that's the image of the city that she has in her mind. Next up is Chicago. RINA thinks it's close to Atlanta. MAMI says it's actually kind of far away. RINA had thought that it's close to Atlanta due to them playing back-to-back shows with ATL on the 15th, Chicago on the 16th. They seem to mark it on the map and it makes HARU go, "Wow, this is definitely a full-blown trip." RINA says that the last time they played in Chicago was fun. She also says that they had gone to a jazz bar and watched live performances while they ate.

•A staffer seems to ask them if they've played in Boston before. HARU says they have, and that this will be their second performance there. RINA says that it'll be their first time playing in Toronto and Atlanta, and TOMO adds that it'll also be the first time playing in Vancouver. RINA says that they haven't played a solo concert in Boston before. HARU says probably. RINA says that their memories are really fuzzy, which makes HARU laugh. She also says that their first time playing in the US was pretty crazy/difficult for them. MAMI goes, "We didn't play in Toronto then, did we?" The rest say no. MAMI then remembers that they haven't been to Canada before. Next, they mark Vancouver. MAMI says that it's pretty far from Chicago and tells them where to mark it. They seemed really surprised by the distance.

•Next, they mark Seattle. HARU is surprised that Seattle is where it is. Next, they mark Anaheim. RINA says that they love the House of Blues (the venue they're playing at there). MAMI says that they pretty much play there every time they go over. HARU reads from the script that the word "heim" is the German word for "home." RINA says that it really is like home, which the others agree with (♥). RINA then says that the next one is in Dallas on the 26th. HARU says that they have some time between the two concerts. RINA talks about the previous time they were there and drove quite a bit from the airport to get to the city, and the cityscape was very much like the scenes of Mexico that you would see in movies. MAMI says that their previous tour also concluded in Dallas. They had eaten steak and then dropped by a convenience store afterwards. She says that there were really big guys standing in front of the store and they found it a little scary, but when they left the store the guys talked to them and apparently they were huge TOMO fans. They all laugh at this. A staffer asks if it was a coincidence, and they all say in unison that it was. HARU mentions that the band had also gone to eat some popsicles before the show at this cute place.

•Now that the map is finished, HARU says that it's impressive to see what this tour will be like. RINA says that this is really a full-blown tour. TOMO says that they're not playing at any places near the very center of the map, though. MAMI mentions that they did go to Denver before (on the Japan Nite tour). TOMO asks where the one city was that they weren't able to go to on that tour. HARU says it was Denver. TOMO says that maybe they did go but they weren't able to perform. HARU says that her memories are way too fuzzy. TOMO says that she has a feeling that they did go. She and HARU say that they have memories of being like, "We need to come back and actually play next time." They keep wondering and thinking if they really did go or not. RINA says that she thinks that what happened was that their luggage and everything got there but they themselves weren't able to go. TOMO says that the boarding area had changed and over half of the bands that were to perform weren't able to make it either. She also mentions that since they were underage they couldn't play late at night, and also that a band who made it at the very last minute still wasn't able to go on. HARU says that maybe they didn't go to Denver after all. Suddenly, both MAMI and TOMO go, "We didn't go?" TOMO then goes, "Where did these memories come from?" HARU then tries to check the concert archives on their own site for more details (they only go up to 2009, though...). She goes, "2013...? No..." RINA says that it was probably 10 years ago. HARU says that maybe they went there on their HELLO WORLD tour. RINA says that they didn't go there on that tour, probably (lol wow, they really don't know when any of their tours were). HARU finds the HW archive and says that they didn't go to Denver on that tour. They say that they really didn't go to Denver ever, after all.

•HARU then asks the others what they think right now about doing a North America tour for the first time in forever. RINA says that she's looking forward to it, and that she's confident that they can play the best concerts ever right now, which makes it really awesome that they're able to go and perform there amidst everything going on. She also says that they treasure going even more because of the long amount of time they weren't able to go. MAMI says that they're really grateful to everyone who's waited for this tour. They've been waiting ever since they first announced that they would be coming, so they're like, "We need to go." HARU says that the previous tour had to be postponed, so they're really glad they're able to do it two years later. She also says that it'd be nice if they could convey who they are right now to everyone via this tour. RINA says that they'll treasure playing each and every show. They say that they'll do their best.

•They then close out the episode. HARU says that soon after they get back they'll be appearing at a few festivals in August. TOMO says that by the time they get back it'll basically be August. They say that they have a pretty busy summer ahead of them.

In response to a question from a US fan, RINA says, "We have to improve stuff for overseas fans"

Episode #123 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 5KPIP2A

HARUNA: TOMOMI, what are you eating?

TOMOMI: "Hi-Lemon Gummies"!

RINA: Nice.

TOMOMI: It's a new product.

RINA: ...is it good?

TOMOMI: It is!! Poiful is also good!!

RINA: No doubt about that.

TOMOMI: Poiful is always good!!

MAMI: Yogurt Gummies are also good!!

HARUNA: Fruit Gummies are also good!!
...so, the North America leg of our world tour is currently underway, but this episode was recorded before that...

RINA: We're recording this right before we leave.

HARUNA: We'll be reading many messages, and giving out lots of stuff like stickers and the occasional pouch! Let's get right to reading some... Eh, this is from someone in the US?? It seems that they did their best to write their message in Japanese.

RINA: Wow, thanks!

Omar

*I will just translate the questions asked

-Please list an official address for people who wish to send stuff to SCANDAL after the tour.

-Is it okay to give stuff to SCANDAL during the tour?

For the M&G:
-Is it necessary to wear a mask? (*The text said "master" [?], but that makes no sense so I assumed they meant "mask")
-Can we give gifts to SCANDAL during the M&G?
-Can stuff be signed?
-Can we shake hands with SCANDAL?

TOMOMI: Everything got through to usー!

MAMI: It did!

RINA: Thanks!

HARUNA: That makes us happy!

RINA: They've been seeing us since Japan Nite...

HARUNA: Isn't that great??

RINA: It isー

TOMOMI: Let's go over each question asked.

HARUNA: First, they wanted us to share the address of our office, ROOFTOP...

RINA: It's listed on our official site, though it might be difficult for those overseas since it's in kanji.

MAMI: Everything's opposite. The postal code is 153-0051. KAMI-MEGURO, 2-15-14, IRON SIDE NAKAMEGURO 2F...

TOMOMI: "IRON SIDE"...

HARUNA: Such a tough-sounding name...

RINA: It's the opposite [of how you write it in Japanese].

HARUNA: IRON SIDE NAKAMEGURO 2F, 2-15-14, KAMI-MEGURO, MEGURO-KU, TOKYO, JAPAN, 153-0051

RINA: We should also write the address in English on our office's site, shouldn't we?

HARUNA: That's true.

MAMI: That would be best.

TOMOMI: They can't read stuff like kanji.

RINA: Let's improve what we can.

What (SCANDAL) discussed for improvements was to add more English in their site and small improvements like that for us, the overseas fans (English speakers). You can certainly send them your suggestion if you want.

One cool thing that is not mentioned in the summary of episode 123, SCANDAL members praised the work of Scandal-Heaven. Not directly by name but as a fan-club; they recognized the work everyone does here for translations, subbing, news sharing, etc.

Continuing right after they gave their official address:

That postal code is for the post office on the same block as Scandal's office, so as long as you get that and the Ironside Nakameguro 2F part right, your stuff is likely to get to them, I would imagine. Also, if you don't want Scandal to end up paying tax on your gifts, keep in mind the duty-free limit is currently around $73 (10,000 Yen). So keep the declared value of your gift under that.

Friendship. Effort. Victory.

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 5xBmQjC

•The episode starts with this. Because the listener mentioned they're part of a 'US fan club,' the band automatically assumes that they're talking about SH. Though they don't mention SH by name, they do say this:

RINA: "A bunch of fans got together and made an unofficial fan club. They're unofficial, but it's basically like they're official."

HARU: "Yeah."

MAMI: "We know about them."

TOMO: "They're faster at posting info than our official accounts."

All: (laughs)

RINA: "That's not good for us, but that is impressive."

MAMI: "I look at what they post, and sometimes I'm like, 'Oh, so that's what our schedule will be like!'"

RINA: "They do stuff like translate all our interviews done in Japan into English, translate videos, etc."

TOMO: "They also post interviews we do overseas. We also see photos of ourselves there for the first time."

RINA: "We're grateful."

•They then answer questions asked about what to do/not to do at M&Gs (most of which are pretty obvious and have been the same for many, many years now). They say that masks are up to the VIPer; it's okay if you want to wear them, and it's okay if you choose not to. For gifts: You cannot give any directly to the band; you'll need to put it in the designated present box. The box will then be shipped back to the Japan where they'll then check the stuff out. They cannot sign anything during M&Gs, which is what has always been the case. Same goes for handshakes, which are also not allowed. RINA says that fans in Japan are probably confused about all this since these types of tickets/perks are not a thing in Japan, and explains that overseas there are different types of tickets at different price points.

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener who had previously written in to talk about how Jollibee is now in Canada. They say that they were so swept up in that that they forgot to talk about Canada's top fast food chain, and say that they hope they read the following as if they would during a "I see - The Catch up" segment. TOMO goes, "Wait, we're just going to do that now?!" They laugh and are surprised at this. HARU goes, "Is it a quiz? ...or not..." MAMI pauses for a second before confirming that it is a quiz: "Tim Hortons has over 3,500 locations in Canada alone. When you enter a location, there are 10-20 types of these in the display case. They're all so cute that you'll have trouble deciding which to go with. What is it?" TOMO answers pretty quickly with donuts. There's a pause before MAMI goes, "That's correct!" The others are really surprised at this. RINA asks if she knew it was the right answer. TOMO says she didn't. MAMI reads more of the listener's message, and they say that while Tim Hortons can be considered a donut chain, it also serves stuff like soup and sandwiches. The band is surprised at how many locations there are (MAMI: "They must be everywhere"). RINA says that there must be one around the venues in Canada they'll play at, then.

•TOMO reads the next message from a listener who was about to go home after futsal practice when they heard someone behind them ask if they like SCANDAL. They say they often wear SCANDAL shirts, but this was the first time someone talked to them about it. When they asked if the other person likes them, they said that they had attended the band's recent tour. The listener writes to the band that it probably took a lot of courage to speak up and ask them that, and that they're happy that someone close by to them is a fan. The band thanks the listener and go, "That's so cute!", and that they're happy to hear something like this.

•RINA reads the next message from a listener who is unsure of what to do about something and so has sent in this message. They say they are currently a kindergarten teacher (SCANDAL: "Hey! Teacher!"), which has been their dream since they were little. It's currently their sixth year of employment. When they first started out, they thought that they'd be satisfied after a few years of experience. However, spending every day with these kids makes them feel that they're still far from being done and satisfied with this line of work. They then change the subject and say that they got married last year. Since they love kids, they've thought of how they'd someday like to have kids of their own. However, they haven't yet since they would have to stop teaching and put a pause on their career. They're unsure of what to do and which path in life they should take. They ask the band if they've come to a similar kind of turning point in their life. RINA says that this is a 'worry'/thinking point that's unique to women. TOMO says that it's likely really easy for nursery school teachers to go back to work after having a kid, so it's probably not a problem of having to choose between having kids or not having them. They'll probably have to take some time off, but after they'll be able to choose what kind of path they want to take with their career.

•RINA says that the band really understands how the listener feels. She says she currently has no plans at all to get married or have kids right now, but if she happens to have those experiences down the line, she needs to think realistically if she can still perform at her best later. Will her stamina be up to snuff and such. She says that this is something she won't know until she actually experiences it, which the others agree with. HARU says that there are musicians who have gone back relatively quickly to performing/band activities after having kids, which is why seeing those people is very encouraging. TOMO says that having kids can alter a musical artist's production schedule and such, and it's kind of the same for teachers as well; stuff like what they want to teach may have to be altered. They say that they're cheering the listener on. HARU says it's best to just live your life without thinking in terms of doing things early/late age-wise, as much as possible. RINA says that choosing what you think is the most correct option will most likely make you feel the best (HARU: "Choose what you want to do").

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener whose listed name is "MAMI's kouhai (junior)"; apparently they went to the same high school as MAMI. They say that they had a discussion about Enshuu dialect (used in the western region of Shizuoka Prefecture) the other day with a coworker who said that the report the listener wrote was a bit "ぶしょったい" (bushoutai). They ask the band if they know what that word means. TOMO wonders if it means "overdoing it" (*Bzzt). RINA guesses "difficult" (*Bzzt). MAMI gives them a hint that it means something negative rather than positive. RINA guesses "a hassle to read" (*Bzzt). TOMO guesses "bad" (*Bzzt). MAMI says that they're close, and that it's used for things that have a physical shape to them. HARU guesses "to confirm," but RINA reminds her that it's supposed to mean something negative. MAMI gives them another hint that it's in regards to the report itself. RINA guesses that it "wasn't all put together" (*Bzzt). MAMI goes, "Ah, that's so close!" RINA then guesses that it means "messy" (*Bzzt). TOMO guesses "disorganized" (*Bzzt). MAMI says it's something you would say if you looked at it directly. RINA guesses "dirty" (*Bzzt). MAMI goes, "Ahhh, that's wrong, but that's so close!" TOMO guesses "rough" (*Bzzt). MAMI says that it's more rough. TOMO guesses "all over the place" (*Bzzt). TOMO guesses "sloppy" (*Bzzt), which MAMI says is also close. HARU goes, "All of them have been 'close'!" TOMO jokingly guesses "deteriorated," which makes everyone laugh. RINA guesses "tasteless" and MAMI goes, "Ahh, that's it!" and says it basically means "lame" or "wack." MAMI then wonders how many years the listener was below her. HARU wonders if they went to school at the same period of time. MAMI says that probably not, and that she'd probably know who it is if they did attend during the same period of time. RINA asks MAMI if she uses this dialect word. MAMI says no, and that it's from Shizuoka Prefecture. RINA asks if she knew beforehand what it meant; she says no. They say that messages like this are really interesting; they can see what kind of lives others lead, and they learn about all sorts of stuff.

Does SCANDAL get a bit angry at the new agenda sent to the Kyoukai-sen Kyoukai?? ※Recorded before the North America tour

Episode #124 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 Z6Ms1Kh

※The episode was recorded before the North America tour.

HARUNA: Our world tour in North America is currently going on at the time of this episode's release, which was recorded before we left. It's the popular segment "Kyoukai-sen Kyoukai" (Fine Line Association)!

TOMOMI: Yayー

HARUNA: The Kyoukai-sen Kyoukai will hold its regular meeting for summer 2022.
Let's read a message from a member.

Yurina

Good evening, SCANDAL! I have an agenda item that I'd like to propose!

This happened a while ago when I was chatting with my boss at work. My husband and I are co-workers, and since my husband and boss are mutual acquaintances, I talked about my husband. The boss said, "Your husband's thin but eats a lot, doesn't he?" I don't think of my husband as being a big eater, so I answered, "That's not correct, is it? Compared to other men, he doesn't eat as much, does he?" My husband's not the type to eat a lot all at once, but is the type to eat a lot in small portions. Because he sometimes snacks at work, the boss seems to have the idea that he eats a lot. "That's not true! He eats a lot! Your home cooking must be good, right? Why don't you make more elaborate dishes?" is what I was told...

I didn't ask him for advice or anything; I was just going to chat with him, so it made me quite angry that they had to say that much about that subject. (I apologize for complaining here)

It was supposed to have been a good convo, but after I got home I started to worry about that... What are "elaborate dishes"? "Cooking with love" and "elaborate food" are not necessarily equal, right? Is there a fine line between the two? Those are the questions I thought of.

What I consider to be "elaborate food" are ones that take a long time to make, simmer, and are made from dashi soup stock. I have an image of cooking being something that takes a lot of processes and time, but I think that "food made with love" are dishes that are made with love with someone in mind, even if it takes less time to make. Those foods take into consideration that person's health as well as the seasonings they like. Wanting them to be happy with the dish is important.

Even with side dishes you've already bought, you can choose something that the other person likes, or keep it friendly to the household budget... I think there's still love put into it at that point.

RINA: Geez...

TOMOMI: What's up with that...

RINA: Seriously, this is something that shouldn't be taken seriously.

HARUNA: Yeah.

RINA: That would surprise anyone.

HARUNA: I can't believe that's something a boss said.

TOMOMI: It's shocking.

RINA: But we know that there are people like this!

MAMI: The person who said it later doesn't remember saying it.

TOMOMI: It might be a joke from that person's point of view.

MAMI: It doesn't feel good when it's said to you in that way.

RINA: It'll always stay with you.

HARUNA: Even what the boss considers to be "elaborate food" could possibly not be that elaborate. The fine line is fuzzy.

RINA: I see. This was in the news a while ago about what people thought about buying potato salad as a side dish. Some were like, "Can't you just make it at home?" But potato salad takes a lot of time and effort. So just like what was written in the message, it's important to want people to be happy with the dish.

MAMI: It's not something that can be done by just microwaving potatoes.

RINA: Exactly.

MAMI: Even side dishes that are sold are made carefully and took time + effort. That's what love is all about.

HARUNA: Even if you're busy and don't have time to cook, wanting others to eat something's that's good for the body is also a form of love.

RINA: Don't accept that!

TOMOMI: Don't worry about it!

HARUNA: Yeah, don't worry about it!

MAMI: I'd love for us to be sent some photos of how "elaborate" the boss's meals are for a month!

TOMOMI: Submit them!

HARUNA: I guess the fine line is between "elaborate" and "not elaborate."

RINA: The fine line for thta seems to be something other than cooking... At any rate, do your best without giving in to such outdated ways of thinking!

•The episode starts with this. The band says that this subject kind of made them angry, which they then laugh at. TOMO then goes, "Let's eat some sweets now."

•They then decide which topic to discuss next. There's one that a staff member seems to want them to discuss: Sleeveless vs. tank tops vs. 'running shirts' (this is a Wasei-eigo term; in English, these are usually known as athletic shirts). RINA says that all of them have no sleeves to them. MAMI says that "sleeveless" means that it doesn't have any sleeves. She also says that tank tops are tops that have to do with the width of the fabric at the shoulders, such as how thin/thick the straps are. TOMO says that ones with thin straps would be camisoles. MAMI says that 'running shirts' are a whole other thing entirely. RINA says that it depends on what fabric is used. HARU says they're mainly for doing sporty things. RINA says that it could be shaped similarly to the others, but the fabric used is clearly different. HARU says that running shirts are likely to be made of thinner fabric. MAMI seems to look up different kinds of 'running shirts' and says that they do make them in tank tops as well. She says that the running shirts are usually made of fabric that are a bit swimsuit-like (they seem to be confusing them for athletic shirts that are usually made of moisture-wicking fabric). RINA goes, "Haven't running shirts evolved a lot?" TOMO says that the difference might be in if it's easier to move around in. HARU says that when she was a student, the boys had to wear running shirts underneath their uniforms. The others are surprised and go, "Not tank tops?" HARU says that she has a feeling that it specifically was written down that the boys had to wear running shirts. TOMO then asks if tank tops weren't allowed to be worn. HARU says that it meant that they had to wear tank tops, but it was written down in the rules that they had to wear "running shirts." RINA says that if a shirt has a sports brand's logo on it = running shirt. She then says, "For tank tops...maybe Uniqlo or something," which they laugh at. MAMI says that sleeveless would be like the top that HARU is wearing today. HARU then says that the top that MAMI is wearing underneath her long-sleeve shirt is a tank top. RINA says that maybe tank tops are more for being worn underneath something. MAMI says that running shirts might be more form-fitting. TOMO says that they're shirts that you could wear to the gym.

•MAMI says that they'll try to define what the fine lines are between the three. HARU says that there might be people who make these shirts among their fans. RINA says, "Ah, there probably are!" MAMI looks up the definition of running shirts and says that it is "a sleeveless shirt with tapered shoulders worn by men during athletic events. It also refers to the same type of undergarment that is generally used as men's undergarments." HARU says that her school seemed to be right about calling those tank tops "running shirts" then. MAMI then looks up the term on Wikipedia, which describes it as such: "A running shirt is a type of shirt and undergarment. It is classified as a 'sleeveless' item. They do not have sleeves, and often have U-shaped collars."

•TOMO asks about tank tops. MAMI looks it up, pauses for a second, and goes, "Eh?!" The others ask what's up. She says that a bunch of results popped up that are like what they're currently discussing, such as one that says, "Is there a difference between sleeveless, tank tops, and running shirts?" The staffer who wanted them to discuss this topic says that she never looked at anything like that beforehand. MAMI reads that a tank top is "a sleeveless garment with a wide opening around the neck and arms. The name 'tank top' comes from its resemblance to a 'tank suit,' a type of swimming suit. 'Running shirts' also refer to garments that are sleeveless and are open around the neck and arms." TOMO says that it's basically up to you to decide if the thing you're wearing is something you consider to be a tank top or a 'running shirt.'" MAMI reads more of what's written: "Although there are few clear differences between the words 'tank top' and 'running shirt,' how they're handled and peoples' impressions of them are very different." MAMI says that 'running shirts' really do seem to be tank tops meant to be worn when you play sports. She reads another definition that's written: "Therefore, women's undergarments are sometimes called 'tank tops' and men's undergarments are called 'running shirts.'" Then she reads: "'Tank top' is an English word, but 'running shirts' is a Wasei-eigo word. In English, it is called an 'athletic shirt' or a 'singlet.'" She also reads that those two are included in the large category of 'sleeveless tops.' RINA says that they did get it right, and that what term you use for the item is whatever you want to use for it. She also says that they really like stuff like this topic where you have a lot of freedom to call things as you like. MAMI says that these are things that she'd normally never think about, too.

•The next topic they pick is rotten vs. fermented. MAMI says that there's a paper-thin difference between the two. TOMO says the difference is whether or not you can eat it, which they laugh at. HARU says an example would be natto. TOMO says it depends whether or not the bacteria is good bacteria or bad bacteria. MAMI wonders when something like natto would reach the point where you wouldn't be able to eat it. RINA mentions that items like that do have expiration dates. TOMO says that they're surprisingly pretty soon, and that fermentation is where you carefully have a hand in making food rot. The rest laugh and agree that that is true. HARU says that there are types of fermentation where you add in bacteria or you just let it get added in naturally (AKA basically let it rot on its own). TOMO talks about how miso is a fermented food, and how during this time of year, if you make miso soup at night, it'll be rotten by the next day. She says you get a feeling of despair when miso soup spoils. RINA says that it goes on to its next stage in the rotting/fermentation process. MAMI seems to find something online that says that there is a paper-thin difference between rotting and fermentation. RINA goes, "Decomposition... When you hear that, you think of, like...zombies!" MAMI says that it is basically like that, and reads that fermentation is "a phenomenon in which substances beneficial to humans are created." They all go, "Ahh." She then reads that decomposition is "a phenomenon in which substances that are harmful to humans are created." TOMO says that they're pretty similar. MAMI says that it really does come down to good vs. bad bacteria. She reads a bit more on the page about what it says regarding milk (which becomes yogurt with bacteria), and how a European who came to Japan in the 16th century wrote in his book comparing cultures that while rotting fish in Europe is a gross thing, but in Japan it's used as a side dish (salted fish). TOMO says that Japan sure does like to ferment things. RINA says that there are really pungent cheeses in Europe.

•They then close out the episode. HARU says that there are so many topics they could talk about on this segment. RINA says that they could do it forever. HARU says that there are a lot of topics sent in that they still haven't gotten a chance to talk about.

HARUNA: Let's read a message. It's from Avenue.

Hello, SCANDAL. I am an elementary teacher in Fukuoka.

All: Hey! Teacher!

I made a big decision this summer. That being that I shaved my legs! It was getting too hot for me not to wear shorts, and my legs were pretty unsightly. The children were sure to have noticed, and they'd probably be like, "Teacher's hair grows so much!" It's still cute when they're young, but 6th graders might be drawn into doing that as well.

In order to avoid that, I said goodbye to my comrades that had stuck with me for almost 30 years... It was sad, but it was quite a big decision in my own way to find a way to cool down and not have it get in the way of my work.

This has gotten pretty long, but have you guys in SCANDAL made any big decisions recently? Please tell us if there are.

MAMI: That's cuteー

TOMOMI: It is.

HARUNA: It really is, but that really was a big decision.

RINA: I'm glad they felt refreshed.

TOMOMI: I hope they cooled down.

HARUNA: But those were their "comrades" that had stuck with them for almost 30 years...

TOMOMI: There's a bit of loneliness there.

RINA: They took the plunge.

MAMI: It was something totally new for them.

HARUNA: Yeah.

MAMI: They certainly did take the plunge.

(Staff: Does having leg hair or not bother you?)

RINA: It doesn't really matter...

MAMI: Doesn't matter if there is or isn't...

RINA: I'm sure there are guys who want to try hair removal, and I think the most important thing is that the person themselves feels good.

HARUNA: Yeah, and same goes for makeup.

RINA: Women can have body hair growing, too.

MAMI: It's a matter of whether you yourself like it or not.

TOMOMI: It's okay if you like it.

MAMI: That's fine. Yeah, it's fine.

•This episode consists of content that was aired during episode 85 where they talk about aliens and space. Here is the clip that is featured:

•HARU mentions how British astronaut Helen Sharman had mentioned in an interview that aliens exist and could already be here on Earth. After she reads more details about the astronaut, RINA says that the feelings of someone who's actually been to space are probably the closest we have to having a correct answer. TOMO says there's a possibility some people could be aliens without knowing it, since you don't retain memories from when you're born. RINA and TOMO think that there definitely have to be aliens here on Earth. RINA says that's mysterious humans exist, after all. TOMO says that humans are probably also aliens of a sort. MAMI thinks within the entire universe there are probably very few humanoid beings. TOMO asks if that means we're lagging behind. MAMI says yes, and that there could be 100 different types of aliens and only 10% are humanoids. She also says that other ways we might be lagging behind are things like using our mouths to eat and talk, and that the human race still causes painful things to happen. TOMO wonders if there are planets where there are no conflicts/fighting and says that Earth is definitely behind on that regard. HARU agrees that we're probably behind on communicating--she and TOMO say there are probably ways of communication that exist where you can convey your thoughts in an instant, like telepathy. RINA says that everyone's pretty knowledgeable about these things, which they laugh at. HARU says that they like things like this.

•Next, they talk about UFOs and stuff mentioned in this article. MAMI goes, "Isn't that that Roswell incident?" She says that the army found a UFO and recovered it but didn't inform the public about what they possibly discovered. HARU says that it's okay if you do or don't believe this, but she's seen a UFO before. MAMI goes, "No way!" A staffer goes, "Come on now!" HARU says that she doesn't know if it was a UFO, but at the time she did think that aliens had arrived on Earth. This incident apparently happened at her home. TOMO says that she saw the video HARU took of it and it definitely looks like something UFO/alien-ish. RINA asks if that means she caught a UFO on camera. HARU laughs and says no, and that this happened late at night at her current place in Tokyo. RINA is super surprised at this and goes, "This was recent, then!" HARU says that this happened maybe about two years ago. She was about to go to bed and turned off all the lights. It was also dark outside so it made her place pitch black. However, a light suddenly started went off. She thought it might have been lightning but it wasn't. The light suddenly came from outside and was bright enough to illuminate the entire room--this happened about three times in an irregular pattern. She thought it was weird, and looking outside she noticed there was a spot that was emitting light irregularly and took a video of it. She says it was super bright but wasn't like the light of fireworks nor something like a flashlight. RINA asks if the light was moving. HARU says no and that it stayed in one place. She thought it was pretty mysterious, though no one else had mentioned anything about it to her in the days that followed. But when she talked to her mom and told her about what happened, her mom said that she saw that same light the previous day. At that time her mom was walking the dog in a place where there weren't many street lights. She then saw a really bright light around the tops of houses and thought that it might start raining so she decided she should go home. The rain never came, however, and she once again saw the light shining again near the tops of houses. It made HARU go, "Ehh??" TOMO says that someone's trying to tell her family something. She also asks HARU if she checked Twitter to see if others were talking about it. HARU says there weren't.

•TOMO then talks about how her friend who was at a music production studio by Mount Fuji took a video of a light that was moving very weirdly and very fast in the sky. It wasn't an airplane and it was moving in really weird angles. She says that Mount Fuji is one of those supernatural places along with Kyoto where nine-tailed foxes are said to be, and who some of her friends claimed to have seen before. She says she's never seen stuff like this herself, though, and then says, "I guess I'm not an alien." MAMI says that she's also never seen anything but her mom has. She says that her mom tells her basically every day at the same time stuff like, "I saw something flying! I saw this light!", though it doesn't seem to have happened lately. Since everyone else is sharing these kinds of stories, RINA seems pressured to say something. She says that she's never seen any aliens. MAMI says she's never seen any either, and TOMO says so as well and that she'd like to make contact with one one day. RINA says that aliens probably aren't bad. TOMO says that like how there are all kinds of humans, there must be all kinds of aliens. RINA asks what they would do if they met an alien. TOMO says she would greet them. RINA says it might be better to not speak directly to them and instead exude an aura that you're aware of them. HARU says that they might be kind to you if you do notice them. TOMO says maybe try appealing to them so that they take notice. RINA says she'd tell them, "Thanks for your hard work! Good morning!" MAMI says that one day HARU might disappear and if you greet whoever takes her place like that, they might be like, "Let's go to space!" HARU says that she's never talked about that experience until now, and she did so because the occasion called for it/she was in a position where this was a subject she had experience in. MAMI says that those who play music are often good at expressing themselves. HARU says that their power to sense things seems to be strong. MAMI jokes and says that they're a band whose vocalist is an alien (TOMO: "That'll help us sell well!").

•Also, here is the unreleased discussion that accompanies this episode.

<From an unreleased discussion>

HARUNA: Let's read a message. It's from Arimirin.

Good evening, SCANDAL.

Thanks for your hard work on your domestic tour. Your passionate performance and MC made for it to be a concert that made me proud to have been able to go see it.

This is completely unrelated to the tour, but during the tour I became friends with someone quite a bit younger than me (I'm part of SCANDAL's generation), and we started talking about purikura. In my day there would be stickers that said stuff like, "Our friendship is eternal" and "愛羅武勇" (kanji that spell out "I love you"), so I used to decorate the photos in a mischievous way, which is what it was called back then.

They were surprised when I said that, but they were even more surprised when I said, "SCANDAL's part of my generation, so they must have taken purikura like that, right?" That made me wonder, what kind of purikura did you guys actually take? You must have used 'mischievous'-like stickers and poem stickers too, right? Please let me know - I'm really curious.

Thanks to SCANDAL, I've been able to make lots of friends regardless of age, and have been able to have conversations like this. Thank you. We'll continue to support SCANDAL together.

All: Thanksー!

MAMI: This is such a funny conversation.

RINA: It's crazyー

HARUNA: We talk about purikura pretty regularly.

TOMOMI: We do!

RINA: And it gets us pretty fired up and excited!

TOMOMI: Looking back, even the purikura machines at the time had a lot of kanji on them, like, "美人" (bijin; beauty) series, or "花鳥風月" (kachou fuugetsu; the traditional themes of natural beauty in Japanese aesthetics).

RINA: There were a lot. There was also stuff by Kanahei!

MAMI: Those were character decorations.

HARUNA: That takes me back.

MAMI: Also, "nankoichi."

TOMOMI: There was, like "nikoichi."

MAMI: Also, are you guys FURYU members? I've been one since I was in high school.

HARUNA: I'm also a member, you know?

TOMOMI: Eh, you're still a member!? So, MAMI, when you take purikura, they're all sent to your account?

MAMI: They are!

TOMOMI: I'm happy about that. Let's go take some photos.

HARUNA: But we haven't taken any purikura at all lately.

RINA: We haven't.

TOMOMI: I'd love to do that. This made me want to go take some!

•This episode consists of content that was aired during episode 41 where they talk about making mistakes on stage. And here is the unreleased discussion that accompanies this episode.

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener who is a 61-year-old bike rider living in Ishikawa Prefecture and is a rhythm guitarist in a band made up of older guys at his work. Sometimes he can't hear what he's playing and makes mistakes. He asks SCANDAL if they mistakes while playing on stage and to tell him if they have a story to go along with it, and also asks them how to recover from mistakes like that. TOMO says that she doesn't really want to talk about how they cover up mistakes. HARU laughs and says that they'll be found out. RINA asks the guitarists how they recover from mistakes, and if there are any mistakes they've made that they remember doing. MAMI says that rather than mistakes, there are a lot of things that happen to her such as her falling down a lot. She doesn't make mistakes then because she literally can't play the guitar when things like that happen, and that all you can do is laugh it off. TOMO says that when HARU sings the wrong lyrics, HARU will yell out that she made a mistake. HARU says that's true, and that her yelling out she's made a mistake depends on the song. RINA says that something she remembers happened during their first time playing at Yokohama Arena. They had played "Haruka" for the first time in forever, and during the very last lyrics of the song where it's just HARU singing, she sang the completely wrong lyrics. She says it surprised her, and HARU says it surprised her as well. They laugh, and HARU says that she was like, "What am I going to do?!?" and she doesn't really remember the rest; only that she needed to finish the song up. They talk about missing chords and RINA says that even if they mess up one, they can basically just cover it up with no one the wiser, unlike singing.

•They then talk about the bass and that if TOMO were to mess up then it would be noticeable, though MAMI says that TOMO barely makes mistakes. RINA talks about drum mistakes and that she made mistakes during the outro of "Sunday Drive" during their 2016 Europe tour, and that she probably confused the audience a bit. She also talks about the mistake she made during SCAFES (their 10th anniversary concert) where she forgot to countdown (RINA: "I was done in by the heat"). MAMI mentions that HARU had a wet towel on her neck the entire time (TOMO: "Even though she had such a cute outfit made" - RINA: "Our stylist was in tears"). HARU laughs and says that she felt like she was going to die, and that it was pretty hellish. RINA says that that was probably the best show they've ever done, which the others agree with.

We're back! SCANDAL talks about everything that happened on their North America tour!

Episode #127 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 1kPbMvI

HARUNA: So we're back from the US, and this is our first recording back!

All: We're backー!

MAMI: We're back!

RINA: We've safely returned!

HARUNA: We apologize for making you guys worry...

RINA: Thanks so much for all of your kind words!

HARUNA: Since we came back in good health, we'll be doing "Catch up" like we normally do. However!

MAMI: Hm??

HARUNA: August 7th is Meiji Apollo's birthday! Born in 1969!

TOMOMI: 53 years old!

RINA: That's impressive.

HARUNA: Our veteran, Apollo-sama.

RINA: August is a special month.

HARUNA: It is. The band is celebrating our 16th anniversary this month, and it's also my and RINA's birthday month.

RINA: It's an auspicious month.

HARUNA: We had a lot going on last month, but let's do this episode well.
For this one we'll each be talking about whatever we want.

RINA: That's nice. We're catching up for real.

HARUNA: Yep, no script/direction at all.

RINA: That's nice to just do what we want.

HARUNA: To sum it up, the four of us tested positive and had to cancel our North America tour halfway through it, but we had been able to hold four performances. So, we'd like to talk about the US tour.

Oh, right; we told everyone that TOMOMI, MAMI, and RINA had tested positive, but we didn't tell you guys that I tested positive the day after, so just letting you guys know now.

RINA: And even though we had several people on our touring team, it was only the four of us who tested positive. We even had separate dressing rooms from the staff.

HARUNA: And we each recuperated in our own rooms.

RINA: We stayed for about 11 days straight at a hotel in Chicago...

HARUNA: We did.

RINA: It was like we were in a parallel world... We did nothing but sleep. I have no idea how many days we slept. That was what we went through.

HARUNA: Surprisingly, a day would go by in a flash.

RINA: ...what did you guys do?

•The episode starts with this.

•In reply to RINA's question to the others of what they did while quarantining in their hotel rooms, MAMI says that she would get up, eat breakfast, and watch a local Chicago TV program called "Chicago's Very Own." The others seemed to be surprised that she actually watched TV. In the afternoon she'd get sleepy and take a nap, and then would wake up in a sweat. In the evening she'd watch TV again and eat dinner. She'd also move her body around a bit while watching exercise videos, ones that are advertised as being doable in small places like apartments = light exercises. She'd then wash up, go to sleep, and repeat the same thing the next day. HARU goes, "That's pretty impressive! You did a lot of different things." RINA says that the four of them all had pretty different symptoms, and that MAMI had said it was kind of rough for her but she still had some strength. MAMI says that symptoms-wise, they mostly didn't have fevers, though their throats did hurt = it probably was more on the mild side for them.

•HARU affirms that she didn't have a fever. Her throat did hurt but it went away pretty quickly. She did get a stuffy nose a little way through it, though, and her sense of smell kind of got a little iffy, which was scary for her; there was a moment when she kind of felt like she was about to lose her sense of taste. RINA says that HARU was worried they didn't have any proper medicine she could take for that. HARU says that they did get some stuff bought for them and she did a lot of things like hydrate her throat. She also mentions how they were all in the same building but never saw each other face-to-face at all. RINA says that it felt really weird. HARU says that they were in contact with each other pretty frequently, though. MAMI says that their staff brought them their food since the band themselves weren't able to go out. She'd hear a knock on the door signaling that her food had arrived and she'd wait a bit before opening the door to go get it. When she would, she'd also look down the hallway and see a staff member walking off way in the distance. HARU says that she'd go get her food right after it was left, and that she'd almost would meet a staffer as they were on the way back from the other members' rooms. RINA says that you do sustain damage from not being able to see/talk to other people in person. MAMI says that not talking to anyone in person the entire time felt a little odd.

•RINA says that she and TOMO got the brunt of it. She had a fever, and she says, "It was like, 'When did my fever actually break?'", and laughs that she spent the entire time in a sweaty bed. MAMI says that she can totally relate. RINA says that it felt like she was drowning in sweat when she'd wake up. She also says that she's glad that they all they recovered little by little. HARU says that they'd receive a health check-in message every morning asking how they felt that day. She and MAMI would wake up relatively early in the mornings and send their replies back, and that halfway through their stay RINA wouldn't reply at all, which HARU and MAMI laugh at. RINA says that it was tough for her, and laughs that after their Zoom meetings her voice would be totally done. They laugh and HARU says that it was really raspy. RINA says while laughing that she's glad her voice has recovered enough that she's able to record for this program. HARU says that halfway through TOMO started getting better. She also says that she, TOMO, and RINA are still coughing a bit and says that they might be hard to listen to for this episode. RINA says that their strength is coming back after testing negative, and it's also can't really be helped if they have a lingering cough or such. HARU says that they have summer festivals coming up. RINA goes, "I'm scared! I'm kind of nervous!" and laughs. She says that they decided on their setlist for ROCK IN JAPAN while they were in Boston (unfortunately, the festival had to be canceled on the day they were to perform due to a typhoon), and that they mainly chose fast-paced/hard-hitting songs. They say they'll do their best.

•HARU asks how the concerts on their North America tour were themselves. RINA says that they got to see their overseas fans there for the first time in four years, and seeing everyone looking really happy made them feel all teary. She thought things like, "Thanks for waiting for us!" She says it was awesome. They all agree. HARU mentions how their original tour [that was in support of Kiss from the darkness] had to be postponed, but she's really happy they got to come here for the first time in forever as well as see people whom they haven't seen in such as long time. RINA says that besides people who have listened to their new album and recently bought tickets to their tour, there were also those who had bought tickets a long time ago and have waited since then, and the energy everyone gave off was really something. HARU says, "This tour also had the vibe of MIRROR to it, and although I didn't talk much, it really felt like everything was conveyed. My English really sucked, but I tried my best to speak as best as I could. The vibe was so warm and it felt like our sentiments were conveyed. I'm really glad we went." RINA talks about the MCs and says that while they did make the base of it in English, they decided to talk about detailed things in Japanese this time, though they didn't know how much of it would get through to everyone. MIRROR also contains delicate/sensitive content, she says, and that this new way of trying to convey things to an overseas audience in and of itself was the right thing to do. Watching HARU from behind trying her best to convey these things made her feel all emotional. MAMI agrees that it definitely got through to everyone, and that seeing everyone having fun and feeling emotional made her realize that this is also what keeps the band going. That alone was something that they gained.

•HARU asks what TOMO thinks. TOMO says that getting to hear cheers for the first time in forever was amazing, and since they had originally planned to tour in support of KFTD, she says she saw a lot of people wearing shirts from that era. That something that made her really happy. HARU says that because they were able to perform some songs from KFTD during the encores ("Masterpiece" in New York, "Ceramic Blue" in Atlanta), they got their fans to listen to songs that the band wanted them to listen to, which was something she was glad about. RINA says that the band said they wouldn't push themselves too hard, but they did end up changing the setlist a bit for every performance. She laughs and says, "So cute." HARU says that despite only doing four performances, they felt so much love and the shows were all really great. RINA says that they're confident they were definitely able to give it their all for every performance, and every performances really was great.

•HARU also mentions that they weren't able to go to Jollibee in Canada (RINA: "That's right! Even though we'd say we'd definitely go!"). She then asks what that donut place was called again. MAMI and RINA try to recall the name but can't remember it either. RINA says that it was inside of a hotel and that it was stylish. They still try to recall the name, going, "What was it called again?!" HARU says that it's a famous cafe chain that sells donuts, and that they happened to find one coincidentally when they were walking around. They had just eaten a meal and therefore didn't go inside, but they did kind of check out what the atmosphere of it was like. RINA says that they did go inside but didn't buy anything because they were stuffed. A staffer says that it's called Tim Hortons. RINA says that it was a really adorable and stylish place (lol not sure if you can really call Tim Hortons that...). HARU says that they successfully were able to go to a Tim Hortons. She then says while laughing that they never saw a Jollibee. MAMI mentions that there was a fan that had a Jollibee tote bag. They laugh and go, "There was!" She says that during the M&G photo session, a fan came up to them with that bag and the band was like, "Isn't that Jollibee??" RINA says that they usually greet the VIPers with "Hi" or "Hello," but only for that fan did they go "Jollibee!!" HARU says that the fan probably didn't expect that kind of greeting. RINA jokes that the fan probably thought, "My name's not Jollibee!" They say it was really funny.

•They try to think of anything else they could talk about that happened on tour but have a hard time trying to do so. A staffer mentions that they went to see a Broadway show. HARU says that the four of them went to go to a show in New York, which is a show that she had originally become interested in a few years ago. She then goes, "Wait, what was it called again?" RINA and MAMI say that it's called "Sleep No More." HARU explains a bit about what the show is roughly about (if you're interested you can read more on it here). She says she heard a few years ago that it was interesting and had been wanting to go see it, though the past times they had been to NY she hadn't been able to get tickets or the timing didn't work out. This time, though, they were all able to get tickets and go see it. RINA says it was really interesting. MAMI talks about how you're to follow whatever actor's story you'd like to experience and follow them room to room to do so, which is why she thinks this show is something you need to attend several times in order to experience more of stories. They talk a little more about the vibe--how it's dark, scary, and kind of mysterious (HARU: "Like a haunted house")--and how everyone except for the performers are wearing a specific mask that's given out to them.

•HARU says that she originally planned to go alone but the other three members were on board with going. RINA says they were interested because they've heard her talking about it for a long time, and that they wanted to go if they were able to. She says that they were able to buy tickets while in their dressing room (in Toronto, as RINA talked about in this video). HARU says that they couldn't get any tickets at first. RINA says that they were only able to after they each tried getting their own tickets a piece. She says while laughing that the server it's hosted on is super weak. You also need to choose which show at which time to go to, and they were worried that there wouldn't be enough tickets for all four of them plus a staffer. HARU also mentions that you had to enter your address to purchase tickets (RINA: "I wanted to input mine in kanji"). She says that you had to put your address in romaji (Roman characters). They had a really hard time with things like that. HARU says that they tried to purchase five in one order but an error popped up instead. That's why they ended up having to purchase tickets individually (MAMI: "That's right; that's how our 'Sleep No More' experience started"). They also mention they went shopping beforehand (also shown in this video), which MAMI says was interesting as well. HARU says that they were able to have a lot of fun on the tour. RINA says it was great time. HARU says she's glad they were able to do it, and thanks everyone who came out to it.

•They then close out the episode. HARU says they talked quite a bit this episode. She then says that a lot of messages have piled up and that they'll be reading some on the next episode. Then, after mentioning that Meiji's Poiful candy will come in heart-shaped for a limited time, they announce that they have a new message topic listeners can write in about called "Poppoppo, Heart, Poppo!" where you tell them a moment when your heart fluttered/your heart pounded fast/etc. RINA goes, "Ono-san (program director), you wrote those lyrics, didn't you?" The others laugh and go, "Lyrics??" Ono laughs and says that he's mad at that. HARU reads that you can also write in jokes that have to do with "hato" (鳩; pigeons). MAMI says that HARU's not good with pigeons, though; HARU says she's fine with written text about them, which makes the band laugh.

In response to a message from a listener who attended the North America tour, RINA says, "It also gives us courage!!"

Episode #128 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 Z5CQ91B

HARUNA: Let's read a bunch of messages!

RINA: We've gotten a lot of them.

HARUNA: Yeah, let's get right to it...

Croissant Aux Amandes

I came from Australia to the Toronto show. It's been three months since I started studying abroad, and before I learned English I was worried about my lack of communication and social skills and how I was compared to other people.

During the MC, HARU said that you guys were always thinking of the fans even when the KFTD tour was canceled due to the pandemic, and how glad you were to be able to hold the tour this time. In response to this, the overseas fans said thank you in Japanese! There were so many moments like that, and the relationship between SCANDAL and the fans made me feel all warm and fuzzy!

I was able to experience that music transcends national borders, and above all, I was able to convey my feelings to others properly/. I also was able to give myself a souvenir for the future after returning home.

RINA: I think you really did your best! Hearing about you guys like that also gives us courage.

HARUNA: They're originally from Japan but went to Australia to study abroad...

RINA: That's impressive; I think it's a pretty big step to be able to make decisions on your own. There might be many obstacles in your path, but I want you guys to have the confidence that you have to the strength to overcome them.

HARUNA: I'm happy that our music is theraputic as you overcome these obstacles!

*Here are the Meiji sweets SCANDAL found overseas that they talked about on this episode:

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 SkyL3yY

•The episode starts with this.

•HARU reads the next message from an overseas listener who went to their Boston show and mention that they've watched a few of SCANDAL's live-streamed concerts. They say that they'll also be seeing them in Paris. The band thanks them and says that they're happy the listener's also going to the Paris show.

•HARU reads the next message from a listener who says they'd like to ask the band a question they've always had: Why is it that good-looking people like handsome guys or beautiful women always go light when carrying a bag with them? (lol why would you ask the band this) They say that it may be something that just happens around them, but an example they give is of a friend who, when carrying a bag, looks like their bag is very light. They ask SCANDAL if they go light when carrying a bag since they're beautiful women. HARU says that "good-looking people going light when carrying a bag" is something she's never considered. RINA says that it's probably just coincidence, which makes the others laugh. MAMI says that it probably depends on when it is (traveling, running errands, etc.). She also says that she's the type to carry all sorts of things. HARU says that it's not as though she's purposely buying super-huge bags, though, which MAMI agrees. RINA says that it could also be a fashion thing; people could go with a stylish-looking bag, which tend to be on the small side, to go with their outfits. They talk a little more about it and basically agree that it's probably coicidence. MAMI then goes back to the small bags and says she wonders what can even be put in the super-tiny ones. RINA says that there are types where you can't put anything in, which surprises the others. She says those are basically decoration (and not functional).

•HARU reads the next message from a listener who has been playing baseball for 12 years and just played in their last college match the other day. They had been humming "Image" when at bat and got a good play, so they've continued to do that for the past seven years. However, since they thought of how this was probably their last time at bat, "one more time" started playing in their head naturally. They unfortunately struck out, but more than regret they were brimming with the joy of having had played baseball all this time. During difficult times during their baseball days, they say that SCANDAL's songs really helped to cheer them up and continue playing, which they thank the band for. The band says good job, and that it's impressive they continued it for 12 years. HARU says that it's a big thing to continue doing something for 10+ years. RINA says that's it's chic that the listener had "one more time" playing in their head during their last time at bat, which makes the others laugh.

•HARU then says that they have audio recorded from when they were in the US and that they'll play one. Audio recorded while they were in Boston is then played. HARU asks the others how the tour has been so far. RINA says that performing amidst cheers is really exciting (note that vocalizing during concerts in Japan has been prohibited since the pandemic began), and it made her remember how happy it makes her. HARU says that all of the fans' emotions are being conveyed to them. She says that above all they felt a lot of love when people call out their names and clap after the band speaks even in Japanese. HARU then notes that it's currently 3 pm in Boston, which would make it around 4 am in Japan. She says that they're getting used to the time difference little by little.

•They then say they're going to do a roulette where whatever topic they land on, they'll talk about. The first round will be MAMI and RINA. RINA spins it and lands on #10. HARU laughs while reading it: "Make a bad pun about the city you're currently in." She says that it seems like it'd be a hard one to come up with. MAMI goes, "Something like, 'Buy a Boston bag' (ボストンでボストンバッグを買う)?" HARU pauses before saying that that's not really pun, which makes MAMI laugh. MAMI keeps thinking about it, which makes HARU say that she's kind for trying to think of one. MAMI goes, "Isn't this for both of us?" They all agree that they'll do a team play. RINA comes up with, "Diving into a Boston futon" (ボストンのお布団にダイブ). There's a pause before a staffer and HARU go, "Oh." There's another pause before they start laughing and RINA goes, "Are you guys sleeping?!" TOMO says that she thinks it passes.

•The next one, #6, they land on asks them, "Has there been a moment when you've thought, 'Ah, I'm definitely overseas'?" MAMI says that moment for her is when housekeeping enters her hotel room while she's still in it, which makes the others laugh (MAMI, you need to keep the 'Do not disturb' sign on your door at all times lol). She says that they'll knock first, which makes you realize that they've come, but sometimes they'll start entering before you get a chance to say you're still there; she'll be like, "Hold on a second!" and they'll be like, "Ah, sorry, sorry" and come back later. RINA says that seeing people taking photos/videos with their phones during concerts makes her realize she's overseas since it's not something that's done in Japan.

•The next one, #5, they land on asks them what Japanese food they want to eat right now is. RINA says there are a lot of them. MAMI says she wants to eat yellow curry that's part of a set meal. RINA says that they had talked a little about curry on the bus from the airport, which is likely why MAMI's craving curry. They laugh and all say that they'd love to eat some curry. RINA says that she wants to eat ramen.

•They do one more but it lands on #10 and then #6 again, making them laugh. The staff tells them to spin it until they land on one they haven't already done. It then lands on #3: "What words have you learned while on tour?" HARU laughs, MAMI goes, "Words we've learned??", RINA says that anything they've heard would be in English. They try to think it about it more as HARU chuckles in the background. RINA says that in places like Mexico and France there are definitely new words that they haven't heard before. She then talks about when they went to a market to look for drinks, they noticed that they were also selling Meiji sweets. They actually bought them and it sounds like they brought them out on the table. HARU says that one of them is TOMO's favorite Yan-Yan in overseas packaging. TOMO says it has names of animals on the sticks. MAMI says that they also picked up Hello Panda, which is something that's not sold in Japan. A staffer reminds them of the question about new words they learned. HARU and RINA answer, "Hello Panda." RINA then says that they already knew those words themselves, though, which they laugh at. She clarifies that it's a new snack that they learned about. HARU says that there are overseas-only snacks like this that you would only know about by seeing them yourself while there. RINA laughs and says that they were happy when they found them. HARU says that they're having fun going to stores on travel days and finding stuff like this. They say that for the next episode they'll do the roulette with HARU and TOMO. TOMO jokes that they remove #10 from it. They laugh and RINA says that she'd want them to experience that hellish feeling of trying to come up with a bad pun.

•The episode then goes back to the band recording the episode in Tokyo. They again talk about how happy they were when they found Hello Panda. HARU says that they first saw the box of Yan-Yan and remarked at how it has different packaging overseas, and Hello Panda happened to be right next to it. She says that they made sure to carefully bring it back to Japan, and then asks the others if they want to eat them after the taping's done. They say yes to that.

The moment the listener's heart heats up, SCANDAL's hearts won't stop pounding!

Episode #129 blog

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 RhKS4d5

HARUNA: So, as usual, there are tons of Meiji sweets in front of us...

MAMI: So much...

RINA: More than usual...

HARUNA: ...right??

RINA: Yeah, it is.

TOMOMI: It's a mountain of sweets.

HARUNA: There are also new items, like the milk chocolate "Horn," which looks delicious...
Also, we'd like to do a project related to sweets.

Now then, for this episode we'll be doing the new "Poppoppo, Heart, Poppo!" segment where you tell us a moment when your heart fluttered/your heart pounded fast/etc.!

We've received many messages. Since there's an increase in the volume of heart-shaped Poifull, we'll always be increasing the presents we give out. Program merch stickers and picks, as well as Poifull gifts. Also, the number of sweets will be determined by roulette, as is standard on "Catch up."

RINA: Meaning that there are a lot of presents.

Shiba Inu Tantou

This happened a long time ago, but please listen to this "poppo" story of mine.

One of my friends from the tennis club was getting married, so we had the opportunity to get together for a sideshow practice. Since I lived outside the prefecture, they were supposed to pick me up at the station by car.

When I arrived at the station, the person who came to pick me up was my so-called ex-girlfriend, whom I dated when I was in the tennis club. I fell in love with SCANDAL right around the time I was dating her, so she knows that I like SCANDAL. It wasn't awkward since it was a peaceful breakup, and while saying, "Long time no see!" I got into the car and we left.

It was then that SCANDAL songs started playing in the car, which got me excited. When I said, "You listen to SCANDAL!", she said, "I don't usually listen to them, but I decided to play them since I thought you'd be happy when I came to pick you up!" At that moment my heart suddenly fluttered.

She also got married two years after that and I was invited to the ceremony. There are times when I wonder if it would have been okay to be like, "Wait a minute!"

I haven't been in touch with her so I don't know what she's up to, but I hope she's happy.

All: Geezーーーー

RINA: That's heart-flutteringーーーー!!

HARUNA: It isー!

TOMOMI: That's so adorable!!

MAMI: Yeahー!

RINA: They were a great pair...You can tell that they had some good times together.

HARUNA: I hope that person gets married and is happy.

RINA: It's lovely! But what song was playing?

HARUNA: Ah, that's right.

MAMI: Yeah, I know.

RINA: Depending on what it was, it might be like she was saying sorry.

HARUNA: I'm curious...but that was a great story!

『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Episode 129

mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 4zoCCKz
mirror - Radio Program - 『SCANDAL Catch up supported by Meiji Apollo』 - Page 22 2KxX6WZ

•The episode starts with this. The band then spins the roulette wheel to see what prize the listener will get. When the wheel's brought out, they all go, "Wow, it's so detailed!" They spin it and laugh when it lands on 25 boxes of Poifull. HARU points out that there's even a space on the wheel that says 100 boxes.

•TOMO reads the next message from a listener whose previous message was read during episode 101 (the one at the end that mentions their daughter and SCANDAL's clear file). He talks about a time when they were playing hide-and-seek and he was "it." The daughter was hiding behind the sofa, and when he got closer she called out to him and said that they both should hide. He said that it wouldn't be hide-and-seek if he wasn't "it," and she said, "It's good that me and daddy are close!" The band goes, "That's so cute!" (HARU: "Stay that way forever!"). TOMO says that she wants to give them a lot of Poifull. TOMO seems to spin it and then goes, "Aah, sorry!" as it lands on 1 box. They laugh and HARU says that they'll have to split that box together. They say they also hope that it's full of heart-shaped pieces.

•RINA reads the next message from a listener whose story is from when someone with a cute voice said nice things to them. When they were going through a tough time, a coworker said to them, "Are you okay? Don't push yourself too hard!" A lot of people around them said encouraging things, but this one in particular was very soothing for them. They also say that the coworker's voice sounds like RINA's. HARU says that the listener is saying in a roundabout way that RINA's voice is cute, which RINA says thank you for. MAMI says, "That's too much of a roundabout way!" as everyone laughs. They spin the roulette and it lands on 1 box as well.

•MAMI reads the next message from a listener whose story is from when their two-year-old daughter begged them for Poifull. They say that their daughter loves Poifull, so when she won't listen they try negotiating by offering her Poifull. They give examples like when she doesn't want to take a bath they offer her some Poifull. The band says that that's cute and that they want to give them 100 boxes, too. They spin the roulette and it also lands on 1 box (RINA: "Three times in a row?!"). HARU seems to try spinning it and says that it seems like it was just coincidence that it landed on that one three times in a row.

•HARU reads the next message from a listener whose story has to do with the Nebuta Matsuri held in Aomori Prefecture, as this year it was held for the first time in three years. It made them really happy and think to themselves, "Summers in Aomori are back!" HARU says that they hope it's also held again next year. She spins the roulette and it lands on 15 boxes.

•TOMO reads the next message from a listener who basically says her heart flutters when she's with her husband who is always positive and happy (sorry, don't feel like typing out the whole thing but that's the gist of it lol). The band says that they sound like they're really happy. They spin the roulette as TOMO chants, "Anything but 1!" It then lands on 16 boxes. They're all surprised at that (random) number and go, "16?!"

•RINA reads the next message from a listener whose story is from when the kids at the nursery school they work at celebrated their birthday. The kids sang and gave them presents, which made for a great birthday. One of those presents was a letter from one of the kids who did their best to write it despite being at an age where they aren't really able to read. They also say they could tell that the kid showed some growth with this, and it made them feel really warm inside. The band says that's really cute. RINA says that it's a hard but wonderful job. HARU points out that a lot of the messages today were about children. They spin the roulette as TOMO hopes that they land on one where all the kids can get a box. It lands on 25, which the band is glad about.

•MAMI reads the last message from a listener whose story has to do with kind people helping them out in times of need (sorry, also don't feel like typing this one out either lol). MAMI spins the roulette while saying, "Let's get 100!" When it stops spinning, there's a pause before she says, "...five." The band all laughs. They say that this segment is a really nice one. HARU says that they hope they can win someone 100 boxes next time. The staff seems to tell them how many boxes in total they gave away this episode, which happened to be 89. They again say that they'll definitely land on the 100 space next time.
