Don't know if this should be a new topic or if it's part of the AM2 thread. Please move as needed.

As USG mentioned, she is not able to give us any info on SCANDAL'S travel plans. Understandably. But I think all of us here at SH have enough brains and geek power to figure out when SCANDAL will be landing at LAX. We know they will be performing at COLORS in Tokyo on 7/2 which is actually 7/1 in CA. We know they will be performing at AM2 on 7/3. They need to be at Anaheim at least after noon on 7/3 for a sound check to perform by 8pm. There are only so many flights to LAX from Tokyo.

As bigO said it would be great to be at the airport to greet the girls (even if it is at baggage claim). Let's try to make this happen and show some SH love.

to be honest wouldn't they want to leave that same day they perform at colors so they can get some rest time? i mean coming in the same day you perform is gonna have some major jet lag. it takes one day per time zone you cross to get rid if the jet lag completely unless you use melotonin. haha so that's like 3? or 2 time zones there crossing meaning they need at least 2 days but since the schedule doesn't allow that they can get at least one day to rest and not be as tired for the concert.

Hawaii Fan gets a gold star! That's the kinda stuff we need to figure out. If they leave Tokyo right after COLORS when would they arrive at LAX? What's the first flight out of Tokyo after they perform?

either they fly over right after or they take a red eye flight. and that either one prob might arrive either early morning or late at night. i could be wrong but this is the best scenerio i thought of because of what time the colors concert is at.

COLORS starts at 3.00PM (Japan time), so that's where you'll have to begin... Flights from Japan to the Westcoast are about 14 hrs apart and with the +16 hr timezone difference, so an ETA would look like this:

SCANDAL leaves Japan at 8.00PM (7/2), which is 4.00AM here in the US (7/2), so factor in the 14 hr flight, they should arrive in LAX (most likely?) around 6.00PM...

Look for flights coming in around that time, but like you mentioned, there are so many flights coming in from Japan anyways... JAL is the main one, so check their flights schedules... Given that there are flights around that time and whatever time SCANDAL finishes their performance...

I'm pretty sure SONY/EPIC can handle their time management well, so jet lag won't be a problem since they'll be told when to sleep during the flight and be arriving around the same time they left Japan... Personally, I always stay up and zombie my way through the night before leaving for Japan, that way I can sleep at the beginning of the flight because I'll arrive later than when I left the States... In SCANDAL's case, they'll gain 2 hrs extra to nap or whatever after they land and get settled in, if need be...

This is the link to JAL flights to LAX from Tokyo Narita. The schedule is the same for both 7/2 and 7/3 Japan time. All the flights departing on 7/2 will not work because of COLORS. However, the third flight listed, even though there is a layover in San Francisco, WILL work. They finish COLORS and still have plenty of time to make a five after midnight flight. They technically leave Japan on 7/3 but they arrive in LA at 8:40pm on 7/2 LA time. They will be tired but they will have plenty of time to rest for AM2 the next day. This is only JAL and I have not checked other carriers.

After doing some searching on online travel sites I've come up with three scenarios.

1) The above mentioned JAL flight. Not really a good pick due to the lay over in San Fran as well as a plane change. But the flight will arrive at LAX at 8:40pm on 7/2.

2) All Nippon Air (ANA). Non stop from Haneda to LAX. It departs at 12:05am on 7/3 but arrives at LAX at 6:15pm on 7/2.

3) Delta. Non stop from Haneda to LAX. It departs at 12:30am on 7/3 and arrives at LAX at 7:00pm on 7/2.

I've never flown international so I don't know how long it will take to go through customs but The Tom Bradley International Terminal is not too far from Terminal 5 where Delta is. If they are not on the ANA flight then hopefully we can book it on over to Delta.

If anyone else has any suggestions please post. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be going to the AM2 if it wasn't for SCANDAL so even though I'll be at the con on Sat. I have no problem heading on out to LAX to meet them if we can get enough of a contingent to go along.

thanks for this research, glenn.

is there a possibility that they could come in on an even later flight? i just have to ask, since the fact that all of these flights fit pretty neatly with each other seems a little too convenient.

it's also likely we'd probably have to skip (some of) kanon x kanon to make this work, if there are people planning on seeing them.

and neil just mentioned to me the possibility that they might tweet about departing, so that would give us a pretty good warning.

at any rate, i live just a few miles from LAX and can offer my place as a base. there's a clubhouse we can hang around if we end up having some downtime.

I was taking into consideration the time in which COLORS starts. It starts at 3:00pm. I don't know when SCANDAL goes on but I think a midnight flight fits best into their schedule. Gear and equipment need to be packed and checked into an international flight. I'm sure that could take a while. I'll look again for earlier flights but I don't think they would want a big rush in Tokyo just to arrive in LA a little earlier.

HA HA! I was shrieking out "MAMI!" when she came out... I think it scared her a bit since it was so high pitched and inhumane...
