A band that has inspired SCANDAL
Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ajax, Ontario, Canada. The band was formed in 1996 and currently consists of members Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Tom Thacker (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason McCaslin (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Steve Jocz (drums).

This must be a sign~ kyaa

This is a thread about SUM41 (one of my favorite bands) and their music.
I've been a fan of this band since i was 6 years old (16 now, so that makes 10 years!)
Are you a fan too? Tell me why (even though we both know the answer! :D)

I've also heard Mami mentioning SUM41 saying SCANDAL wants to be a band that is like that. .love. Recently Tomomi were also mentioning SUM41 saying the same thing.

Spoiler:

Don't know about SUM41? Check out their songs! .clap.

As you can see, they have a great mix of aggressive rock to pop punk.

Discuss SUM41 here!
Have any questions about the band? Ask me!
I think i can qualify as an expert since being a fan for 10 years .cool.

No, their lead singer (Deryck Whibley) was actually married to Avril for quite some time.
They don't do much of that fun rock vibe these days, call it for the heavy side .upwalk.

First listened to Sum 41 when I was in fifth grade. I remember the first Spider-man film coming out around that time, and part of the soundtrack was "What We're All About". For some strange reason, the song stuck with me. And I found myself singing the rather catchy chorus from time to time.

My other favorites from them were "In Too Deep" (which made for a cool track to play in Lego Rock Band) and their collabo with Ludacris for the rock version of "Get Back" (which was pretty badass, in my opinion). \m/

Sweet! someone finally made a Sum41 topic!
This was one of my favorite bands when I was in middle school and high school. I really like All Killer No Filler and Does This Look Infected.
I think my favorite song would be either "The Hell Song" or "Fat Lip". When I get bored, "The Hell Song" is usually the first song I play on guitar to warm up. I also listen to it a lot before gigs to get me pumped up.
Sum41 is one of my biggest influences in music, along with other punk bands.

Know them since All Killer No Filler album and love them a lot but haven't follow their recent work. Think the last album i listened to was Underclass Hero. Really awesome band and i like the fact that our girls like them too!

Hum i may gonna check on their last songs to see how they evolved =)

I'm still a little kid when I first saw "In Too Deep" on MTV and probably the first punk rock song that I ever liked. I'm not yet a fan of punk rock back then, all I know is that the song is rock and they were all crazy. haha. I liked it cos they always played it on MTV. They're on my top 3 fave punk rock bands alongside with greenday and blink.

it's was the same for me. But I heard them before, the firt song I heard was "in too deep" the clip was very funny.
Now, I don't listen to Sum 41 anymore because I listen other bands.

"I'm sorry to announce that I've
decided to leave Sum 41.

Touring with the band has been
an amazing experience that has
taken us far beyond our old
practice space in my parent's
basement to countless countries
around the world. I've had the
opportunity to see and experience
so much and for that I am truly
grateful.

I just want to thank all of our
fans for making the last 17 years
possible. I had a blast.

Thanks again,"

I still don't know if it is true or just a joke. I wonder if Sum 41 will still continue after this.

I love Sum41. From Half Hour of Power to Scream Bloody Murder, I've been following them since 2001. That said, I think the best line up they ever had was when guitarist Dave Baksh was still in the band. That guy was BADASS. Anyway:-

Fun personal SUM41 fact no.1:-
A midi of "In Too Deep" was the ring tone of the very first cell phone I ever bought with my own money. Since you can't download stuff on a Nokia 3310, I had to key in the ringtone myself.

Fun personal SUM41 fact no.2:-
I too own a DVD of a SUM41 live show, Sum41 Live in Tokyo. Is it the same one the girls rented? I hope so!

They will continue.
Deryck (their lead singer) have been talking about an upcoming album. He's in progress writing it right now. I don't know who will take on the drums on their live show. But my best bet will be their drum tech or something because he usually plays the drums when they are doing the Pain for Pleasure encore.
