I don't know if there was ever a topic like this before here or not, but do people here listen to indie music??

Just curious. But I would like it if there were people who do.

OH MY GOD SOMEONE REPLIED. .love. Hahahaha.

It wouldn't be mainstream here, though. Haha. What are the bands that you listen to, then?

No, we're not comparing. I mean, maybe.. Fine, yes.

I listen to half of them and half of them (and I don't know why) I avoid. Hahaha. And wow CHVRCHES being in your top favourites even though they're relatively new. Haha.

hm.. i like to keep myself updated. but sometimes it's too much, considering that indie bands are popping out like daisies. but i do keep my favorites. chvrches i liked recently lang. like last month i think, i heard recover and i was hooked. general rule is, i dont like hearing my favorites on the radio. i dont know how to explain the emotion i feel when they start playing some of my favorites on jam 88.3 -- though jam is a good station for me.

wait, oh my God i forgot to mention vampire weekend (maybe because they play it on the radio these days) and local i like she's only sixteen

what about you?

I pretty much listen to most kinds of music, I don't really mind mainstream music (I'm a Justin Timberlake fan), it just irritates me when it's overplayed.

Vampire Weekend is amazeballs. Haha. Also, recently listening to
Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground, Local Natives, Copeland, Foals, Deas Vail, The 1975, Purity Ring, Passion Pit (recently being played in malls), The Jungle Giants

I'd like to put more, but it would be really long. Haha.

Listen to Kay Kay! Recommended if you like The Beatles (or so they say)

Also, I find it hard to talk to someone about these stuff because obviously they like other stuff.

oh, here's another one i was totally in love with.. but they're not active anymore. i think they're already disbanded. but as far as girl bands are concerned, they're noteworthy indeed.

Oh wow, the way she plays those drums is frantic and energetic. Clearly outshines the other instruments. I like it. Thanks.

Also, speaking of disbandment, Kay Kay also disbanded last June, I think.

I can definitely see why. Hahaha.
Anyway I saw this new song by Hellogoodbye (I'm assuming you know them, because they went to the Philippines) What do you think of the song?

oh, did you catch wanderland music festival? here's a trivia: i have 5k worth of VIP ticket to see the show. my mom doesnt know anything about it because she's gonna kill me if she found out i spent that much on a ticket... and then on concert day, i lied about going out with friends to actually watch a concert. BOOM she asked me to do some work for her. she didnt let me go D<  and nobody would buy my ticket for even 1500 so i had to give it away to an unworthy friend.

----i just had to say it. masakit pa din hanggang ngayon e haha

I'm not a fan of MGMT.. Haha. To me they're like, you know them for, "THAT ONE SONG."

STARS!!! I only knew they went when a newspaper told about it. But it was only told that day so that's a bummer.

Oh good I'm not an XX fan either. Haha. I'm pretty neutral about DCFC, though. Transatlanticism was great.

Wanderland? A lot of people have been trying to sell tickets to me (because they think I'm hipster) at very low prices. Haha. But I reaaaaally didn't like the line-up, if you ask me. Half of 'em are YouTube indie kasi. But then again... Haha. But that's too bad! 5k down the drain.. that friend should've at least paid an amount.

to be honest i wanted to go to wanderland solely because im a neon trees fan (way before people memorized "animal" on the radio) and i also wanted to see temper trap live. couldnt care less with the other bands really.

and yea, my unworthy friend. not a friend after all for not paying a centavo from my hard earned money.

Hello!^_^
Very interesting topic!
I think I am probably listening indie music also but not quite sure (some are more or less known than others), here are my favorites bands that I follow:
Rock genre:
-Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (my favorite from all):[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Black Angels:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Black Keys (before their last album T_T)
-Band of Skulls:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I love this music video!
-Jon Spencer Blues Explosion:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Folk genre:
-Fleet Foxes:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

-Father John Misty:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (a very "special" live Wink)
Others:
-Passion Pit like Jlrd!Wink I saw them at the Inrock festival (in France) three years ago if I am not mistaken and it was awesome!
-Xavier Rudd: a committed artist that play varied music styles, he is very impressiveh and very talented at playing different instruments, his songs are so beautiful and meaningful! (it is one of my recent crush):[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Well, actually, this is a short list because there are many others but it would be too long ^^"
It is too bad that Those Dancing Days are not longer active because I quite liked the song!T_T
@ Rinshei
I don't know so much japan indies band, maybe Chatmonchy, Cheese Cake and Negoto if they are!^_^"

I listen to Japanese indie I guess? Bands like Toe, or Mouse on the Keys, which I find weird that they went here in my country before SCANDAL. Haha. Also, Tenniscoats is a very cool band if you want to relax, or if you want to be calm.

And thanks for your suggestions, I'll be giving them a listen later on. Nice one

Black Keys aren't really indie anymore (from my perspective..) and as for the others, those are good choices! Some I don't know so I'll try to find more of those later.

Negoto does sound sort of indie in a way? Haha. The drummer is really inventive.

Yeah, since their last album the Black keys can't be considered as indie anymore -.-" IMO, their best album is "Brothers", I warmly recommend it!
Negoto's drummer is very great indeed, I love the way the band sounds, they convey a  kind of dreamlike world in their songs!^_^
