As the title asks, what was the last movie you watched? And if you wish, post a few thoughts you had about the film you watched, too.

The last film I watched was Sisters, which admittedly wasn't as bad as I'd have thought, considering the fact I like seeing Tina Fey and Amy Poehler together. It's definitely not something I'd remember sooner or later.

As the Gods Will
Great Takashi Miike movie. Unknown mystical powers force students worldwide to play deadly games to survive. It's not overly special or clever in any way but still very enjoyable.

The one before that was The World of Kanako
A detective searches for his lost daughter and slowly learns more and more about her dark life he did not know about. This is a tough to watch movie portraying a sick dysfunctional society. In the end it really makes you appreciate the good life you have.

I quite enjoyed The World of Kanako. Haven't seen As the Gods Will but I am a fan of Takashi Miike.

Recently I just watched Children of Men after a long while of not having seen it. Still one of my own all-time favourites for sure, the ending always breaks my heart.

The last *never-watched-before* movie I watched was the very cheesy, and ultimately bad "Death Trance".

Starring some guy with a metaphorically big head, it was full of bad acting, poor choreography, and bad action scenes; with a plot so predictable even a 10 year old kid would have seen the lack of a twist half-way through the movie. His acting was a bit like Steven Seagal's, and even had Steven Seagal's son in the movie. Enough said.

It was something better suited to be an anime movie (not sure if it was based on a manga), but I'm not sure even that medium would have saved it.

The Double Life of Veronique was my most recent viewing, and on this watch it's barely made my all-time top 50. It's utterly beautiful in so many ways that I feel only wording out descriptions for what's to be witnessed won't do it any justice.

Lady Snowblood, the gorgeous aesthetics together with the stylized approach definitely made everything worth a watch. Unfortunately everything seemed to grow somewhat tedious in the last half hour, but other than that, definitely worth a look.

I was speaking specifically of the first one, which I quite enjoyed watching for the most part. Unfortunately I can't say I was very much a fan of the second one.

Watched Loups=Garous. Not the most exciting thing I've watched, but had it's moments; also (watching with eng subs) the older girl reminded me of Makise Kurisu character a bit.

My favourite part was probably the bonus extras with Scandal talking about the film, music, voice acting, and mocap.

The big short.

Really good movie about the american economy, I dont think having that many great actors increased the value of the movie, I would've enjoyed it just as much if they only had 1 or 2 big stars but having so many big names at once felt like a huge waste of money dropped into the movie, like come on Brad pitt doesnt need to be that one guy that had a connection with a bank, that couldve been any actor for that matter and it wouldve been the same, the key actors to me this movie were Steve Carrell and his crew (in the movie), Ryan Gosling and Christian bale, everyone else couldve been replaced by random people or tier 2 actors and the movie wouldve been just as great and generate much more revenue.

Gallants

Old-school kung-fu movie with some old actors. Old-school cheese probably squeezed a bit much, but I liked it. Also JJ Jia!

Vanquisher

Not old-school, but just plain poor thai movie with lots of swords, bad choreography and camera-work, and bad voice-acting reminiscent of old Jackie Chan English dubbing (but maybe worse). No redeeming qualities, definitely recommend skipping.

Treasure Planet. An old animated Disney movie that certainly gave me the nostalgia of my childhood. I enjoyed it.

I think I prefer Meiko Kaji in this to Lady Snowblood. I just loved it.

Die Welle ( The Wave). This was interesting. The story was nice and I liked how it progresses throughout the movie.

REAL

A really nice movie. Moving. Philosophical. Really tugged at my emotions.
Like a ghibli movie, but live, yet still with a high amount of imagination.
Totally recommend watching it.

--------------

Sector 7

Cheesy horror flick, much in the vein of Alien, except you're on an oil rig in the middle of nowhere. Can't really say it was good, and the portrayal of a "strong" female lead probably didn't work too well either, unlike in Alien. In saying that, it really does seem like a rip-off of Alien in a lot of ways.

Interstellar (2014)
While sometimes a little too astrophysics-y for my liking, I can only describe the visuals and progression as "captivating". Kinda left me in a state of awe at the end

Inside Out (2015)
For a Disney animated movie, I found it surprisingly packed with substance (Maybe because I was able to understand on deeper levels haha). So often do we see children's movies with distinct protagonists and antagonists, good vs. evil, etc. IO uses the idea of "wanting to belong" to drive their conflict-engine rather than more common troubles like "world domination", "sabotage", "vengeance", etc.

Cold Fish.

Easily got to be one of Sion Sono's best from what I've seen of him.

This Girl is BADASS! (aka Jukkalan)

Awesome Thai movie which more than makes up for the flop I watched the other day.
Full of fight scenes, cheesy love, and brilliant one liners which even in the translation have come over excellently. Jiji Yanin plays a more laid back, and down to earth character after her more serious roles in Chocolate and Raging Phoenix, but still with a lot of her Bruce Lee-esque acting style intact. The supporting cast are really what make this movie, and the over-acting makes for a splendid movie to watch with friends

Hail, Caesar!

Just as always as I'd expect from the Coen brothers. Absolutely wonderful.

Before that, Love Exposure.

Been on a kick of Sion Sono films lately, this one still remains my favourite.
