Beginning
Theme：RINA

We announced some information today!

We wrote a song called 「Rainy」

Right after I returned home on the night of the live we did at a Roppongi live house with other girl bands, I began to put words to a melody with no lyrics and finished it in the morning
Tweaking it further from there, this is its shape now.

This song will be the image/theme song for the Japanese release of the movie 「Shadow Hunter」 (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones), out on 4/19
You can hear a bit of the song on the announcement page

We adjusted the song while watching the movie
Since it's a cool and gaudy movie, the song is like that as well

The composition and arrangement are done by SCANDAL

This will turn into something about me,
But I haven't really been able to write lyrics like this until now.
But, because I thought of considerable, large, new things during the days in February where we couldn't meet that were like a gaping hole, the pen has moved
5 years has passed since our debut, and I'm really happy that it feels like we can still touch new places

It always rains, doesn't itー, on days we see you guys

What's being streamed on the announcement page was cut for an ad
So I really want everyone to hear the full version of it soon

It's been a while since the girls did the lyrics, composition and arrangement for a song. I'm so excited to listen the full song. LOVE

I didn't quite hear the song from the announcement video that they made.

I really like look of the messy studio while the girls do their practice. .smile.

Songs composed and arranged by the girls themselves always turn out being their best works in my opinion.
Songs like STANDARD immediately come to mind. .uhuh.

Just thought about it but Rainy seems perfect for our "Ame (rain) band" .sweat.

Great to have confirmation from RINA about the song. While SCANDAL members have been involved in the lyrics for many many of their songs, this is actually only the second song that will be fully done by SCANDAL no? The first one being the song STANDARD. If that's the case it may be an important confirmation that the band now wants to write some songs of their own without any help. And more importantly, that the company is ok with it and even like that because it's surely the company that pushed for the theme song somehow. I mean it's not just a random b-side. And STANDARD was already the name of the song and album so it's important.

Hopefully we can get a clear preview soon and know more about the song if it will become a single or only be a digital release or only on a soundtrack CD, etc.

Actually, if you're talking about songs written solely and fully by SCANDAL (lyrics, composition, and arrangement), "Rainy" will be the third song. The previous two are "Hikare" (lyrics by RINA, composition by RINA & MAMI, arrangement by SCANDAL) and "STANDARD" (lyrics & arrangement by SCANDAL, composition by MAMI).

Oh right I forgot Hikare sorry!!!! And yeah I thought about the songs where SCANDAL did the music and the lyrics (well one member). For the lyrics alone they were involved in many many many songs (a high %).

So we have Hikare (mid-2011), STANDARD (end 2013) and Rainy (2014) it seems. Hopefully more to come because I love Hikare and STANDARD and Rainy sounds more than awesome too! .love.
