Is what I've made sure to eat every day recently.
But, the stuff from convenience stores and supermarkets are no longer enough
So, seeking some variety, I went to
An antenna shop (a shop that feels like you're traveling♪ and you can buy local specialties even though you're in Tokyo☆☝︎).

I found this at a Hokkaido antenna shop

Eh, natto?!
Edamame natto…edamame…

When I opened it
It didn't come with a sauce!!!!
On the package it says 『Please look forward to the natural, rich flavor』
I see; that's why! (is what I thought)

The grains are a little bigger than medium-sized grains.
Its appearance (color) isn't the same as ordinary natto…
When I tried stirring it,,
Its viscosity is crazy! Each string is pretty thick.
The main part is fairly firm and perfectly chewy.
The taste…there's no sense of edamame.☝︎
It had a very refreshing aftertaste and didn't have much of that distinctive natto smell. It filled me up.
It was! Delicious!!

What is this, a natto blog? haha

Food talk from the band's best chef, Mami. Lol. I've eaten Edamame before, but I never knew that you would have a sauce with it, like a dip(?)...

To me, Mami is the Super "Sexy" Hero!
I have an impression that she is the one easily catch a cold.
It was also mentioned in their early tour documentary.

I gotta eat natto some day and find out if it tastes good or bad, might as well give it a try if it does raise your defenses :p

btw...recently Mami has been adding this little hand pointing up in her blogs/twits....what is the meaning? I think I saw the post when she started...but my japanese is not good enough yet :c can some body tell me about it, please?

I don't think there's any significant meaning to it. I mean, it's Mami...She's done the same thing before with 'Opi'. It could be that she really likes them.
Mami didn't often tweet a lot with ☝️before the fans did the same thing.
It's basically become a trend to Mami fans/SCANDAL fans haha

I've heard so many bad things about the flavour that I dont really want to try it but I guess I must try everything at least once. Whats with the ☝︎☺︎ can anyone shed some light into why this became a thing? lol

I love natto. I swear it is good! Hahahaha. I'm a pick eater and I surprise even myself - I have it every other day almost and I love it with tamago kake gohan. UMAI DAAA!!!

The story goes that the famous Minamoto no Yoshiie was on a battle campaign in northeast Japan between 1086 and 1088 AD when the soldiers were attacked will boiling soybeans for their horses.
It was several days later when they remembered the soybeans in the bags but found they liked the taste...ewww !

The taste is too strong for me, I cannot eat wasabi either.

Maybe, I'll try eating natto one day. I have tried pungent smelling food such as marmite, vegemite, kimchi, our very own buro (not related to the delicious Mexican burritos). Let's see if I will appreciate it or not.

I'm expecting more food-related blog entries from Mami, Rina, and even Haruna (who started to appreciate cooking lately).

fermented soy beans . .. NATTO. I'd read something with that word lately in a jap. booklet. I wonder how bad or good do natto taste like.

I daresay it's an acquired taste. The first time I tasted them was from a brand that was made in China, the beans are smaller and it was a tad salty. I then found a Japanese-made one - the beans were a bit larger, and they were less salty.

I was told by my Japanese friend that people are put off (esp non-nihonjin) by the gooeyness, an effect that you need to create (thanks to the healthy bacteria in them) when you mix the natto with the karashi (a kind of mustard) and shoyu.

To any S-H members (esp from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) who have tried tempeh - imho that's the closest to natto if you wanna imagine what it tastes like. Just go to an oriental supermarket and try it!
