Well I was impressed how they were not prepared to play without Mami, a western group would just have gone ahead with a stand in.

You're right Tony. I also see that often in metal bands. The most recent example I have is Nightwish's drummer. Maybe the time between their trip and the moment when Mami got sick was too short.

And even AC/DC with Axl Rose

Maybe I was wrong, the drummer with McFly has injured his neck and they said all their concerts are cancelled until he is better again.

It really depends on the band, I don't think it's a Japanese vs. western thing. Don't forget, Scandal at one point seriously considered doing an entire tour without Haruna!

In the end they decided that all four members are important and it wouldn't really be Scandal without any of them. There are western bands like that too, and other bands with members that are more interchangeable. But in Scandal, nobody is replaceable.

True. That's why i still can't accept the fact that ZONE had two line-ups (or even three and four if we count their reunion).
