INCEPTION :D Not always do you come across a mainstream Hollywood movie that's a hit and at the same time intellectually brilliant. 12/10 for me (the extra 2 comes from the fact that Ellen Page is so hot )

But for Japanese movies, I must say Tokyo Gore Police. Not for the faint hearted though, I guess It lives up to it's name. And since I'm a gore/slasher/horror/sci-fi fan, I love this film very much. 9.5/10 :D

It is a remake of the 1963 movie where Samurai Shinzaemon Shimada
accepts a suicide mission to kill the evil Lord Naritsugu.

Although there are legs and arms flying everywhere the message
is anti violence !

I really liked Parade, this Japanese movie... I feel like watching it now, actually lol. Or ... there's ... BANDAGE ... Hana and Alice, The Longest Night in Shanghai.

In terms of anime, I really can't get over The Sky Crawlers. It's depressing and dark and lovely all at once, when I first watched it, it left such an impression on me -- more so than Howl's Moving Castle ... but lately, I really love watching the Evangelion movies... XD
