I just watched it yesterday.
That we didn't get to hear koyuki sing was kind of disappointing, but somehow I can understand that it might have been the best choice.

The thing I didn't like about the live action was that Koyuki wasn't singing. Other than that, it was a great movie. I liked the anime series as well. That show inspired me to get a Fender Telecaster guitar.

The casting of the movie was perfect! Perhaps the reason why Koyuki's voice was muted because he was supposed to have a super great voice and maybe they decided to leave it to the audience's imagination how he sounded like. Definitely a really great film! :D

Either way, I pretty much said in that long entry on how I personally thought of the movie. I am one of the very few that inclined what the director did for Koyuki's voice. The anime's take on his voice was honestly a let down for me. The manga's way of portraying Koyuki's voice is still the best take, that's why I like what the director did for the movie.
