Nightwish is an award-winning symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland, formed in 1996 by songwriter/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former vocalist Tarja Turunen. Nightwish's current line-up has five members, but Tarja and the first bassist, Sami Vänskä, are no longer part of the group.[1]
Although Nightwish has been prominent in their home country since the release of their first single, “The Carpenter” (1997) and debut album Angels Fall First, they did not achieve worldwide fame until the release of the albums Oceanborn, Wishmaster and Century Child, which were released in 1998, 2000 and 2002 respectively. Their 2004 album, Once, which has sold more than 1 million copies,[2] led to the broadcast of Nightwish video clips on MTV in the United States and inclusion of their music in US movie soundtracks. Their biggest US hit single, “Wish I Had an Angel” (2004), made it onto three US film soundtracks as a means to promote their North American tour.[3][4] The band produced three more singles and two music videos for the album, as well as “Sleeping Sun”, from the 2005 “best of” compilation album, Highest Hopes, prior to vocalist Tarja Turunen’s dismissal.
In May 2007, former Alyson Avenue frontwoman, Anette Olzon, was revealed as Turunen’s replacement,[5] and in the autumn, the band released a new album, Dark Passion Play, which has sold almost 2 million copies.[6] The supporting tour started on October 6, 2007 and ended on September 19, 2009.[7][8] A new E.P./live album, Made in Hong Kong (And in Various Other Places), was released in March 2009 as a MCD/DVD, and a seventh studio album is in production, set for release in 2011.
Nightwish is Finland's most successful band with more than 5 million albums & singles sold worldwide, with 1 silver award, 23 gold awards, and 36 platinum awards.[2]

God, Tarja is my idol for singer. Such a voice~
But Nightwish with Anette is... FAIL! Just.... I don't have her but she can't sing. I can sing 3 times better, really.

AHHHH finnaly found it... 
I was thinking about making a new topic but I overcame my laziness of searching through all the forum xD.
Anyway I freaking LOVE them... 50% of the time I spend listening to music... its from them... and specially now with the new album coming up next year I am really hyped!
Although I admit that I prefer Tarja's voice because of all the power it has, she is still making music (awesome music btw), and I grew used to Anette I guess... I remember the first time I listened to the Dark Passion Play album I was like... "whaaat is this trash!!" but now I love it... Amaranth, Bye bye beautiful, Sahara are all in the list of my favorite musics by them. So yeah, I guess it can take some time for people to get over Tarja, but at least I think Anette is not bad at all.
Anyway... can't wait for the new album...

I love the old Nightwish with Tarja the goddess. But I think I'll by the new album I'll give it a go. They're awesome!

Yes, definitively give the new album a chance. As I said, I have to admit I prefer Tarja over Anette, but they are still great.
