(TB) Jason Garrison, Jeff Costello, and a 7th round pick in 2015 to VANCOUVER for a 2nd round pick in 2014

TB trade Teddy Purcell to EDM

Yzerman doing his usual jedi mind tricks then offloads Gagner to clear cap space - long process to clear a bad contract without a buyout but also getting draft pick in return.  Should rephrase, Purcell isn't a bad player, just not worth that contract with his level of play lately.

Free agency opens up soon - should be the usual mad scramble leading to ludicrous contracts to get "that" player.  Can't wait to see how it all winds up and who is with who at the end.

Would love to do a fantasy league but I just don't log online often enough to make the game interesting.  Did one a few years back and basically started one with my mates but we all just let it go on autopilot until it finished lol.

The new hockey season is just around the corner. Yey! Even though they're meaningless, I was so hyped to start watching the pre season games. Especially since all 7 of them are free LOL. Thank you based TSN3.

Terrible start to season for the Leafs: 
Phaneuf is still being useless.
Our veterans seem to lack the fire the rookies have to be shown.
Game 1: Let PK Subban score the winning goal after toying with him for 2 and most of the 3rd period.
Barely beat Colorado
Kozun is out out for possibly 3 weeks.

I have yet to see an improvment in defense that Caryle promised. To Shanahan I say: Fire Carlyle!

I find it amusing that the almost all of the comments are about the Leafs/Oilers. Leaf blowers need an oil change~

TBH, I thought it was going to be talking about the All Star Weekend... I actually didn't watch it, but kinda laughed when I saw the highlights from the draft, where Ovechkin wanted to be last in the draft so he could get the car. What REALLY got me though (and stings like a *****) was that they traded Kessel for Seguin from the draft.

Even though I had a really good laugh at that, holy hell is the pain still real.

Anyways, going back to what you were saying Lexian, it is really no surprise that the Leafs and Oilers are usually struggling. Oilers, from what I noticed have usually been on the bottom ranks, whereas the Leafs always nosedive when it is crunch time. 

I wish the Leaf fanbase could just open their eyes and just not attend their games, because at this point in time, it's not really a hindsight thing anymore, I feel like it's something that WILL happen (I believe the nosediving has happened for the past couple of years?). If this were to happen (as in not attending their games), it'll REALLY force management to hire new scouting people etc. to ACTUALLY make a good team with chemistry. Throwing Jerseys on the ice is just stupid, not only does it demoralize the players (thus making them play worse), the "fans" just wasted a $200+ Jersey. 

Oh well... I guess when you are the richest Hockey team in the League, management and the owners just really don't care about the Stanley Cup (what's that again?) when they always generate revenues, regardless of where they play.

Leafs and Oilers struggling is nothing new but definitely agree that the Leafs need a
drastic change as on paper, the team isn't bad enough to be in freefall like they are currently.  They just can't seem to cope when all the teams start ramping up for playoffs halfway through the season and then implode. I don't really follow them but from things I do read, it sounds like they need to address the attitude in the locker.

Oilers on the other hand is another story.  When does rebuilding stop?  They have been drafting in the top three to five picks for the last few years. There comes a time when "rebuilding for the future" but the future has to arrive.

Being a Tampa fan, after years of watching a struggling team, I can understand the frustrations with being a current Leafs or Oilers fan. I'm just glad the new owner and GM are proving to be delivering on what they promised - steady development and rebuild into a contender for years to come.

That feel when none of the teams you're cheering for are winning strings of games.

I know people can get upset with their teams performance but throwing a jersey onto the ice never made sense to me. They aren't cheap and I would think mass boycotts in attendance would do more - at least management would lose money and realise that they need to do something. 

But then again, everyone has their own way of venting their frustrations.

I'm actually more interested these days to see if the Wild can sky-rocket into a playoff position. They've been doing extremely well lately.
