It's less crazy when you think of how big the desert in Western Australia is. Japan isn't a country one would associate with deserts and camels, this was what I meant.

「GW」 is short for Golden Week, 4 national holidays that's almost consecutive from 29 Apr till 5 May. A lot of Japanese simply take leave and have the entire week off. This period is a great opportunity for them to go on a trip and many of them do.

Rina's 「GW感じられました。」、literally meant 「We were able to feel/experience Golden Week」 or 「It felt like Golden Week」. In the context that they were busy with events this Golden Week and were not off work, it would meant that despite being busy, they managed to enjoy themselves and do something that's like being on a trip during the Golden Week.

That, or she just meant that there was an atmosphere of Golden Week there.
