A set of Les Paul Gold/transparent skirted control knobs will look good on it. And Mami already played Les Paul for awhile.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong. The fingerboard seems too flat without any radius?
And I haven't see any luthier put on the bindings before the neck is carved.

Fingerboard as still flat at this point. Dont worry there will be a radius
Installing bindings before carving seems like a normal thing to do, to me.
You make the binding channel by using a router bit with a ballbearing. So you need a flat surface.

But of course there are a few ways of doing it. I just find this the easiest way

Work has been super busy lately, but Im still doing this

I was thinking: how could I make this strat more special. I decided binding on the body will make it amazing.

Hardest part was to make the bindingchannel where the armrest was.

I started glueing the binding. Obviously I started with the easy part

I've mentioned this before, but basically the only way you can turn it in is through their present box.

Since yours will obviously not fit in the box, your best bet would be to try and tell a venue staff member (there will most likely be one standing by the box) about your gift and they most likely will be able to take it inside and to the band/safe place.

Didnt make a lot of pictures, but here is a neck-update:

Finished the transition to the headstock:

This picture also shows the sidedots I used.  Gretsch white falcons have black sidedots, which (in my opinion) looks weird, and are kind of hard to see.
I used Luminlay dots. They are white in daylight, and will glow green in the dark.

Next was preparing the frets.  I bent them to the proper radius, and cut them to size.
But because this fretboard has bindings, there's a bit more work to do:


From top to bottom:
First you cut the fret to the right size. Then you remove a small part of the tang. But.. after that there's still some cleaning up to do.  21 frets equals 42 sides. Takes quite a bit of work
And yes: the frets are gold.

I think I found nice knobs for this guitar:

The beveled top and indicator dot, look "gretschy" to me, which might work for this guitar

Quick neck preview":

Worked on the neck today.
Started of with a square neck.  The way I shape the neck is drawing "facets", taking away the wood of those facets, draw new facets take the wood away etc.



At the moment it's almost finished.   What works for me at this point in the proces, it stop working on it. I'll check it again tomorrow. Usually I find small stuff to finetune.   So this will be the process for this week.


Body only needs to be sanded at this point, so we're getting there
If I dont have to work this weekend, this guitar might be ready for lacquer.
