Here's what TOMO said about the song:

「Living in the city」 will be released!

It's a song about a city that's become important to you before you know it.

Now that we've realized how much time we've taken for granted, and how dear and precious that was to us, I'm very happy that this song can be delivered to everyone.

I feel a little shy about it since I recorded it at home!

The cover is a photo I took at home, and our staffer Tatsumi added Instagirl-like effects to it.

I really like the urban groovy vibe of the song, Tomomi seems to have a knack for this style of music, probable influence by her listening to rap and hiphop and maybe her DJing. 

It's kinda weird how the song starts with a fade in, like someone is turning it up on the radio, it's odd hopefully its not on the final version. 

The song reminds me of a Tricot song called "Naka" (a fantastic song btw), same laid back hiphop feel.

Interesting that people here described it as urban, groovy and 80s sounding, because it is. It’s citypop/シティーポップ like NEON TOWN ESCAPE.

Because of the Coronavirus, Record stores have been closed in Japan so it messed up a lot of recent release, many recent releases were delayed. Especially for people who reserved their CD and can no longer go physically to the shop to pick it up, but they don't want to loose their pre-order bonus etc, so they are stuck.

Also recently there seems to be a lot of fans off loading their Scandal collection to clean up as they are self quarantine at home and cleaning up / raise money, as I suspect many people can not resume their regular jobs and are stuck at home.

So a digital single just makes it more simple for everyone for now as they can't do any launch events etc.
