今日はなんとマネージャーまでもがケータイをsmart phoneにチェンジ。
TEAM SCANDALの間では今アプリの妄想電話っていうやつが流行ってるよ！
みんなずっと誰かと妄想電話してる。←


RINAもsmart phone買おうか迷い中。
やっとiPod使えるようになったところやけど…ｗ


てことで、今日スタッフさんに今年の抱負をもらいました。笑←
「アナログリナからデジタルリナへ！」
smart phone買っても大丈夫なレベルまでまずは鍛えよう！ｗ

Nowadays, we have really started to digitize！

On the train, in the dressing room and backstage, everyone has a smart phone in one hand.
Even our manager wound up changing his phone to a smart phone today。
The app that's really popular among TEAM SCANDAL is the app called "Mousou Denwa"! (literally, "Delusional Phone Call")
Everyone is always calling someone with Delusional Phone Call.←


I'm also wondering if I should get a smart phone...
Even though I just now finally learned how to use an iPod...lol

On that note, today I got this year's aspiration from the staff. lol←
"From Analog RINA, to Digital RINA!"
Even if I get a smart phone, first I've gotta train myself to a level where I'll be ok! lol

-The line "From Analog RINA to Digital RINA" is most likely a reference to the transfer of all Japanese television broadcasts from analog to digital, which is set to take place July 24th of this year.
-The app "Mousou Denwa" can be downloaded for free on the iTunes music store outside of Japan - simply search for its kanji "妄想電話"

@jc Japan has its own cellphone brands and they use different systems. they send "text" to each other by using "e-mail addresses." so since the iPhone doesn't use that kind of system, maybe that's why they have more than one phone? just a speculation though.

I'm surprised that the US went to DTV before Japan! .wtf. but truth is it's terrible. I'd take analog any day. Before the transition I got like 10 channels, now I only get 5. .hmmm. But I stopped watching TV since then, only for the Olympics.

Simple fact is, Japanese cell phones are mega-advanced and specifically tailored to Japanese consumers, so they had a significant stranglehold on the market. iPhone was released a couple years ago with tons of incentives to switch to Softbank (which was the only carrier who had it) and unlimited internet usage (much like incentives used in the US), but the progress has been slow. With the rise of smart phones - in other words, phones that can effectively be used like PC-cell-MP3 player combos like iPhone - they are becoming increasingly more popular.

So, to answer your question, for a long time, iPhone was the outsider in the market - now it's increasing in popularity and leading other smart phone companies to bring their products to Japan.

though iPhone is the most popular smart phone in Japan at the moment, but the iPhone still lacks several features that all Japanese phones have, even now. So from what I'd heard, many Japanese usually carry 2 phones, the iPhone to play with and their Japanese "keitai" (mobile phone).
The iPhone, when it first came out, was something of a novelty. Japanese, especially the tech lovers, buy it out of curiosity and something that is COOL, but it didn't fit the Japanese "keitai" lifestyle because it lacks many features that keitai offers. Apple actually release special updates that supposedly caters to Japanese customers, and over the years, they expanded the features capabilities.
Yet, though they improved greatly, it still lacks several japanese features.

FYI, Japanese common mobile phones are not considered smart phones, although compared to my "normal" cell phone in america, I thought keitai was more advanced than even the smart phones here.
-Did you know you can use your japanese phones as a credit card? just bump and go, or scan and send signal to a electronic machine to pay.
-Japanese phones seems to have video calling features WAY before USA ever did. it started back in 2000, and had been a common feature since the early to mid 2000's. iPhone 4 just started the facetime feature, as well as android phones.
