In summary, some "Over Drive" pre-orders from CDJapan were shipped out with "Metallica" posters.

I'm not sure to who else/where else this has happened but here at SH, the current count is at 3. 2 having been resolved and 1 still active.

Incidents with resolutions have been collapsed and active cases follow near the bottom.

CDJapan has been a great asset to my music needs since the day I stumbled upon them quite a while ago. Their customer service is great and they respond to you in a timely manner. Just recently I emailed them about pre-ordering an album from a band that wasn't listed on their website. The representative responded within a day and off he went on his journey.

He contacted the record label, was then referred to the distribution company, only to be pointed towards the sub-label that the band belonged to. Two days after his initial response to my email, the album was online through CDJ.

"CDJapan is totally awesome and they do great business. I will vouch for them 100% that you can order confidently through CDJ."

Earlier yesterday I received my CDJ order. "Over Drive" was pre-ordered long before the ad poster went out of stock and I bundled it with "STANDARD" to save on shipping. The "STANDARD" poster is absolutely beautiful... on the other hand, something was off about "Over Drive"...

!!! METALLICA!!! Rock on

I knew something wasn't right when I looked into the poster as it was still rolled and saw darkness. As I unrolled it some more, I thought to myself, "Dude... that... that's Lars Ulrich... BWAH HA HA!!! ROFL

NO F'N WAY DUDE! CDJapan really did send me a Metallica poster for "Over Drive"!"

EXTREMELY HILARIOUS!!! The ID tag did indeed specify SCANDAL ESCL-4095 but this poster was fully wrapped, taped, and secured all up in there. I know others would get totally mad & bent out of shape but I'm as much a fan of Metallica as I am to SCANDAL and it made me smile big time. Totally epic win fail on different proportions!

Double check your orders guys and gals! Mistakes do and are bound to happen sometimes! I guess I'll vouch 99% after this mishap.

RESOLUTION

So turn around time was about a day. WOO!!!

So once again just to reiterate, I just wanted to share my little mishap because it was a funny turnout on my end so this was not to bad mouth CDJ or anything like that. CDJ is very professional and you should have no problems using their services from present to future needs.

Keep in mind that every situation is different though. A poster vs $100 limited edition whatever are not the same items.

Seeing as that this is a "Through the Never" Metallica poster, it must have been packaged recently so anyone who received their Over Drive poster bundle upon it's release date via CDJ and still hasn't open their posters yet, you may be safe from this mishap.

but as a Metallica fan too, the poster is awesome ! Maybe they were listening to Metallica when they prepared the package haha.

I contacted CDJ about the mix up already so I'm about to see what they can do since their OD poster stock is out. Would be cool if they sent me the corresponding Metallica CD to go with it though.

@ Darksider: Yeah totally awesome! I can always order the Over Drive poster separately so it's not a big deal. I agree though that the person who packaged the poster is a Metallica fan. A month prior to OD's release, Metallica performed at Summer Sonic Osaka, so I have no doubt that was the case. Happy

@ hapi hapi: Yeah it could have been a random boy band or something of the same nature but I was only mad for a second when I knew it wasn't SCANDAL. Then my frown turned upside down when I saw Lars and "METALLICA" pasted on the center of the poster.

I've already seen some meet & greet footage from the Big 4 in Sofia, Bulgaria (Lars did a joke with a french girl) but this one is excellent ! and the moment "no, sorry, it's over" Hohoho Onion

Your story just echoes to mine though it is a bit different. I pre-odered the deluxe edition of Standard and as everyone I was suppose to receive the poster but I did not whereas it was written on the Customs Declarations that the package contained the cd and the poster...it made me angry >_<
I wrote to Yesasia to tell them about that and they said they didn't ship any poster to my adress which is nonsense, who send me the poster if it is not them? That makes me laugh "Over Drive" shipped with "Metallica" posters 24

And they ended saying I should call the local custom for the clarification of the items marked...Well, sorry, but I don't think I have time to waste to call people for a poster that had been certainly lost during the trip because it was not wrapped correctly. Next time I should probably ordered at Cd Asia, at least I will have a poster even if it is not the good one lol ^_^ It is a fun story!

@ darksiders: Ah The Big 4... I saw them perform a few years ago at "Coachella" field... PHENOMENAL!!! A few months after, I went to see Anthrax in San Diego, CA and got rocked. Front man Joey Belladonna was addressing the crowd after the opener and aced me out. "There's an asian guy in the mosh pit!" HA HA HA!

@ yuffie: Sometimes Yesasia ships the poster separate from the CD if it's bigger than standard size. My sister bought a special edition kpop cd last month and both were listed on the manifest/customs label but were shipped separate. I remember it specifying 1 of 2 when the CD package arrived first. Hopefully your poster arrives in the same manner, it's a nice poster!

@ babaloued: You should be alright since both were packaged at the same time. 1 out of 2 isn't bad but 2 out of 2 would be better. :)I still have 2 Kagen no Tsuki posters that I haven't unwrapped yet so I may be in for a bigger surprise later.

@ kaitokid: What's worst is that if you miss a pre-order and have to buy a cd/poster bundle via Yahoo Japan/auction site or something similar, there's nothing to can really do to return the item since it's sold as is and out of their hands when you purchase it. You could peek into the tube for a piece of mind?

Funny story ^^ It ends well because you also like METALLICA but I imagine you would have probably be very angry if this wasn't the case!

Also even if they make a mistake it's better to end up with a poster of METALLICA than... Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber .lol.

^ Yeah the one with the 4 close up shots is the one that comes with the pre-order. The one you linked from ebay is the one I'm talking about but I still have no clue where that one comes from. Most likely it's a version for the stores since it has the tour date info on it (typical style) but then that means one of them is more exclusive than the other?

I have both but I need an extra of the tour info print to throw into a frame. Kinda wish they used an OD uniforms pic for the OD poster to differentiate from STANDARD but the timeline was out of whack for that to happen. HA HA! Either way, my poster collection is current now that this CDJ mix up has been straightened out.

Erich and I finally decided to check our order after seeing yours, and lo and behold... We emailed CDJ about it and hopefully they too will resolve our issue. But I guess at least we got one OVER DRIVE poster haha Tongue

It could take them another day or two to respond since it's Sunday but I'm sure they'll replace it since it's just posters. Plus, you more than likely have a bigger transaction history with them than I do so it'll be a greater loss on their end to have you second guess their business in the future.
