I noticed someone come onto stage just before Love Survive from Mami's side of the stage wave to the sound both in the back point over to Tomomi mimed talking with his hand then pointed up. I had assumed he was telling them to turn Tomo's mic up louder which I jad noticed was kinda low before that.
One little thing is that the sound wasn't great... the vocals from where I was were strangely muffled. I did hear Haruna singing a little offkey at times too, which I've never heard before, so I wonder if it was something about the mic level rather than the PA system. I thought it was odd during the soundcheck that they checked everything *but* the vocals. But then they never tried to correct it during the show either.

I look like some kind of circus freak standing next to them.
But I'm happy to have the photo. After all my worrying about it turning out blurry, or not at all, or me losing it or deleting it by mistake afterwards, it's fine and now I have proof that I met Scandal! And after all my nervousness about what I was going to say, I ended up saying literally three words to them - "Hello" and "Thank you". They said both back and were very friendly about it. They seemed really nice and like I could have said more, but I was a little star struck. The people ahead of me didn't seem to say much more, if anything, though.
Now, my thoughts on the show, which I'll also put in a spoiler tag in case it gets long (and I'm gonna talk about the set list):

First, the venue kind of sucked, although that's not the band's fault at all. I've never been to the PlayStation Theater but they had the VIP ticket holders penned in this little area that was outside but shielded from any wind. And it was HOT. I was pretty drenched in sweat before even going in. Then the security was SLOW. I felt like they could have let the VIP ticket holders inside a bit earlier; we ended up waiting again once we got inside anyway.
There was one merchandise table that initially had all the stuff on the photo posted earlier *plus* Honey CD's. Nothing else extra that I noticed, though. No other CD's, no Haru photo book, etc. I bought my merch after the M&G and I think they still had everything at that time (but then they should have, since GA hadn't been admitted yet).
I took my spot on the floor after buying my merchandise. A word of warning: at this show, they tried to route M&G people directly onto the show floor afterwards. I went back out to the merch table, then walked back in and onto the floor. I don't think you were technically supposed to do that since you had to leave the "controlled" area (by the band) to do it and then walk back into it, past the line, but nobody said anything. But just be aware at the later shows - if you don't want to miss out on the merch, either buy before lining up for the M&G or make sure you don't listen to them when they try to route you onto the floor afterwards.
I ended up about 4 people deep about halfway between Haruna and Mami to start with (I got nudged over a little closer to Mami as the show went on). I didn't think I cared about being so close this time, since I've been that close before, but I couldn't resist and I'm glad I set myself there.
They started on time. The beginning of the set was thunderous. I loved the song selection. I loved them opening with "Shunkan Sentimental". They plowed through about the first five songs non-stop, all of which were really high energy. They were all very into it from the start.
The middle section was slower songs, including "Morning Sun" and "Departure", which I've noticed they do quite a bit at their longer shows. (This wasn't the longest show I've seen of theirs, but it was longer than average.) I think it's to give both them and the audience a break. I personally needed one; after the first section of the set, I was glad to have TWO towels with me! One I would use to swing around, the other to dry myself off. I was dripping with sweat by mid-set.
At the end they returned to more high energy songs. I think the first of this last section of the set was "Sisters", which came after a short MC and they dedicated it to NYC (I'm not sure why, exactly... maybe I should read the lyrics). Haruna did not have an acoustic guitar so she played it electric, which is the first time I've ever heard it that way. I do really like it when they rockify their poppier songs. They closed the main set with "Love Survive", and by that point Haruna, especially, was going nuts. During "Take Me Out" I thought she was going to give herself a brain hemorrhage. I think the only other time I've seen her like this was in Nagoya at this little college show; sometimes she just gets crazy into it and she was tonight. She loved it.
I have to say too that while I wasn't sure about her short hair, it looks awesome on stage. It bounces around and gets all in her face and looks kind of badass.
I was actually *really* surprised and very happy that the encores were "Shoujo S" and "Doll". I didn't really expect them to play either song on this tour. I didn't think they'd do *anything* with choreography, and they did all of it for that song. Watching them do that song with the choreography is just one of the great things in life. It was also the extended version, with the solos, and they all came out to the front of the stage to do them. And to close with "Doll" after opening with "Shunkan Sentimental" was really just practically fanservice. I could barely keep my arm up waving my towel by the end of it.
Being so close to the band and so obviously freakishly tall, I got a lot of eye contact from both Mami and Haruna. I swear, every time Haruna looked at me she smiled, which is probably just because she could see that I was obviously having a good time, and I'm sure seeing this giant, goofy guy dancing to your music like he doesn't even care is probably pretty fun to see from the stage. But I also wondered if she recognized me from any of the other shows I've been to (I've been in that same spot several times now, and am not easy to miss). Ah, probably just wishful thinking.
As for the audience, it was pretty diverse; a pretty good mix between young and old, men and women. And a lot of people did know the "moves" for various songs, but a lot also didn't. One funny thing was during "Koe", which I admit I somehow didn't quite recognize at first, it took the crowd a strangely long time to react at all. (Not sure if they played it with a little different intro or if we were all just in a daze by then.) When people finally did start clapping in time during the verse, Mami smiled and started nodding her head around at the crowd. They really like it when people outside of Japan know what they're supposed to do during each song.
The newer songs seemed almost totally unknown. I knew them and was doing my best, but most of the crowd didn't really do anything during "Platform Syndrome", "Over" or even "Freedom Fighters". So I felt kinda alone going crazy during those songs.
From where I was the place looked pretty full (and it holds 2,100) but I understand it might not have from further back. I couldn't see beyond the railing that about split the place down the middle.

I checked several spots in the venue (center and right side on the lower floor and center near the sound desk), and it seemed the left was distorted compared to the right (volume wise, the spot near the sound guy was perfect).
). It was an honor to meet TGE and thank her for everything she does for the site/ social media. As I don't speak japanese, seeing all Scandal's social media through scandal heaven's insta/twitter is a huuuuugeee blessing. So once again Thanks! It was also great to see how everyone else felt when i had the chance to thank her, as a big crowd of people started cheering for her! I also recognized Wildthing and thanked him for always updating us on feedback store and what not. Much thanks man!
