This fall, SCANDAL will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their major label debut!

My wife & I will be in Japan on their Tokyo dates - wonder what the chances are of visiting gaijin getting tickets? Also agree with Don Dio - for them to play their first album in its entirety would be true SCANDAL Heaven.

On the subject of gaining membership of SCANDAL MANIA as you mention in your set reply as a possible way of expediting the purchase of SCANDAL tickets may I share the following - which I'm sure can't be unique. At the end of October 2016 we were in Tokyo for a few days before moving on to Osaka to run the Osaka Marathon (which MAMI & HARU did in 2017 - respect) & do the SCANDAL pilgrimage sites in Kyobashi. Whilst there SCANDAL were playing at the TV Asahi Dream Festival so we wandered up there to see if we could get in on the door (we couldn't). On the way we passed the SCANDAL shop in Shibuya so went in to stock up on SCANDAL merchandise. Some of the items we picked up the staff refused to sell to us as they said we weren't members of SCANDAL MANIA. We asked them to make us members but the staff said that it was not possible. Continuing on our way to the venue at Yoyogi Daiichi Taiikukan there was a SCANDAL merchandise stall outside where we again enquired, only to receive the same response. The staff wouldn't (or couldn't) explain why. Now I'm a big fan of SCANDAL & have been ever since I got my "SCANDAL FIRST LIVE" DVD in 2010, but this exclusivity sometimes annoys me.

Unfortunately, as it says you're from the UK and I would guess most likely not of Asian descent/Asian-looking, they probably did (rightly) assume that you were tourists and do not live in Japan, and therefore do not have an address in Japan. You need one in order to join MANIA.

I forgot to list it in the thread, and this is something I will now add to it, but the way you can get around this is by signing up for a Tenso address and putting it down as "your" address when applying for MANIA in person. I can confirm that this is something you can do, as I did this myself when I applied to MANIA in person at their 2012 Budokan show in Tokyo using my Tenso address + my friend took out another membership for me in 2014 (I had let my first one lapse) at a show of theirs in Tokyo using my Tenso address. They probably didn't question us applying since we're both of Asian descent...pretty lame. But yeah, a "gaijin" definitely can apply and join; you just need to know how to get around the silly rules. Dear TGE. Many thanks for additional info on "Tenso" Looks a a bit like a shopping site but I'll dig deeper & see if I can emulate your success. Nothing ventured, nothing gained (as they say). Just another small point on that, do you apply for your MANIA membership first (& if so who would you apply to) or get it at the same time as you purchase your tickets & would this be on the night of the performance. We're only in Tokyo for a few days so couldn't apply in person very much in advance - & if you applied on the night & obtained MANIA membership at the same time would it probably be sold out anyway?

By the way I'm definitely not "Asian" looking - if you've seen the London section of the 2015 DVD "SCANDAL Documentary film HELLO WORLD", I'm the guy in the green combat jacket being interviewed by the TEAM SCANDAL camera crew outside the O2 Academy. Thanks again for your help.

Who would you apply to? I don't understand. If you're asking where you should apply to join in person, it's either, as I mentioned, at a live show at the MANIA booth, or at Feedback! Shop in Shibuya. You need to fill out one of those paper MANIA forms and pay the required dues.

You can also pay a shopping service to sign up for you online, which I mentioned in the how to get tickets thread. This would technically be the better and easiest option since they can also enter you into the MANIA presales with no effort on your part.

Take a look at the presale details in the first post of this thread. In order to have applied for this tour's MANIA presale that ran from 5/25 - 6/11, you had to have joined MANIA by 5/31 (those who joined between 5/21-5/31 got to apply to the presale starting from day 12 of the presale). They always require that you have to had joined the fan club prior to a presale start date. And, additionally, as I also mentioned in the how to get tickets thread (please do take a look at it lol), the presales are lotteries. This means that you won't find out if you managed to get tickets until after the presale is done.

I know your main question has been answered but if you still want to join Mania for future stuff, Tenso is *just* for helping you buy stuff in Japan by giving you a Japanese address. They have an associated shopping service called Buyee that you can use in conjunction with it, but you don't have to. Many things in Japan require a Japanese address, so Tenso comes in handy in a lot of different cases. (Provided whoever you're dealing with doesn't specifically disallow it; it's like giving somebody a Mailboxes Etc. address in the US or probably Europe.)

They've been somewhat more closely consolidating the two services over the past couple of years, to the point that it does seem hard to tell by their web site what the difference really is anymore, but that's it. Tenso is a Japanese address/forwarding service; Buyee is a shopping service you can use with it (or not).

The band talked a little about their upcoming "Kanshasai" tour, mentioning how the set list is looking to be archive-like; and that they want to play a live show that everyone can enjoy no matter when you discovered the band, whether it's recently, or you've been supporting them during these past ten years.
