Some very nice stuff, is there any sign that they will reopen their worldwide store

Looking forward to watching the ladies on Monday. From what I have read, the first half of the concert will be streamed live on YouTube, but can only be watched live as it will not be repeated….10.30am U.K. time. I am hoping that they will do a dvd of the whole concert that we can buy at a later date.

To clarify, only the awards ceremony (where SCANDAL will receive their Guinness Award) at the start of the event will be streamed. The concert will not be shown. This is what the band confirmed on their YouTube channel.

Wow, things got real when the Guinness lady came out in a real Guinness jacket and framed certificate. I wasn't expecting Mami to get so emotional and I hope she can put her feelings into words later on via social media. Miracles happen. It must be great when they happen to you.

So they're officially the longest-running all-female rock band without lineup changes.

I was watching the Instagram live and even though I've only been a fan for couple of weeks, I might have cried a little bit when Haruna couldn't hold back her emotion.

It's really amazing when looking back at their journey, from being put into a band by a dance and sing school, learning playing the instruments by themselves, Rina finally joining them just about a week before the first performance, then performing on the streets, moving to Tokyo, major debut, tours, Haruna's voice problem, making their own label, COVID, tours being cancelled, being unable to write songs... but they're still here and still moving forward.

And for the fans who have been for years or even since the early days, you guys are also incredible, specially with how much of the changes in their career and music styles throughout all those years. Being a Kpop fan, I have never been able to stay with a group that long, mostly due to the change of music in their later career, but with SCANDAL, it may a different story because their music is now a reflection of themselves, and I always love that kind of music.

And speaking of their music, I wonder if they are debuting their next song Highlight no Naka de Bokura Zutto here, and hence, no live streaming for the concert.

Even with some exceptions of people at the end demanding to see the whole live in the stream, it was very nice, the people who commented in the chat were very nice.
I already imagined seeing the emotion of Tomomi and Rina, they are usually the ones who get the most emotional and for Rina it must have been an incredible way to have her birthday, but seeing Mami so emotional at the end, before the concert started, was really exciting 
In the end some of us end up crying in the chat too xDDD

I'm very surprised by the setlist, but I'm sure it was an incredible concert, I hope they get to release it on DVD or something. While it will be time to wait for the release of the new single. 

Time Machine ni Onegai was a very good choice. Some of the lyrics:

I see Scandal have posted the set list on Spotify for those who have an account, though " Time Machine ni Onegai (Sadistic Mika Band cover)" is not available to play in my region.

Mind = blown. Another cover of this song is used in my favourite film, Kamikaze Girls, and I refer to my red Mami signature Stratocaster as Ichiko, which is a reference to that film. I had no idea that Scandal themselves had ever played it. I'd love them to make it a part of the next international tour's setlist, or record it properly. (And played better than they did in 2006, obviously! Bless them, they're trying, but...)

Looks like a good setlist, hitting all the live standards, though I'm a little surprised that neither Line Of Sight or Vision are on there. I do hope it was recorded for a DVD release, or even just bundled with the album, if it's not long enough to be put out on its own.

In any case, congratulations to the band, and here's to another 17 years!

Nope, that concert that you linked is obviously a later one. Don't forget that neither one of them knew how to play their chosen instruments (Mami could play the drums, and Rina the piano, though), and the concert took place in less than a month since they started to learn how to play. At Heavy Rhythm they only played Time Machine ni Onegai, and they were extremely bad: Haru was so nervous she couldn't move her fingers, Mami never played the guitar standing up before so she held her guitar in an awkward position and near the end of the song one of her guitar string snapped. During either this or their next live (December 25, 2006) Rina lost one of her drumstick during their performance, and as she didn't prepare a spare one she had the leave her drums and had to search for her lost drumstick. (Also Doll wasn't written by Caless staff, and they signed with Epic much later (April 2008)

According to this thread, that video is indeed the first performance at Heavy Rhythm, and when looking closely to their outfits in the video, their inner shirts match with photos from their old blogs (Tomomi was specifically wearing a yellow and purple one). And honestly, that performance in the video is kinda bad, they were stiff and kept looking at the guitars when moving their fingers on the fingerboards, it was clear they wasn't used to it, and I think the video was cut off before the string snapping happened on Mami. (Haruna was probably exaggerating a little bit about being not able to move her fingers, as we also sometime say a similar thing when being nervous)

Someone on Discord said they did show the original performance on screen while performing that song again at this concert so it would be nice if someone was there can confirm this. Until then, I think it's safe to say that video is the one.

Oh, and Rina losing the drumstick happened on their 2nd live, according to that thread.

I was there, and can confirm that did happen. During "Time Machine ni Onegai," clips of them playing it at their very first live performance (HEAVY RHYTHM on August 28, 2006) were shown interspersed with live footage of the band as they played the cover in real time.

So yes, I can confirm that the video being linked to in this thread is 100% from SCANDAL's very first live performance. Not sure why one would think it's from a later performance. But I guess the band did say at Sekai Ichi that it didn't look like that was their very first performance (as in they didn't look like complete novices that only started playing their instruments a week prior lol).

So I actually was very curious on what she meant by that because watching the video, I thought she was holding the guitar normally. And then, I've just watched some other performance and noticed, sorry for a bad description here, most guitarists would hold their guitars more upward, creating a 45-degree angle to their body, to easily moving their fingers, specially when reaching to lower frets. You can see it in some close-up performance like this one.

Meanwhile, during that first live, Mami was actually holding the guitar more downward, creating a bigger angle, which would happen mostly when playing guitar sitting down. I've just tried that pose and that was quite awkward. Haruna also seemed to hold the guitar like that. Tomomi surprisingly held her bass more normally, probably due to its long neck compare to guitar.

And looking through this thread again, they managed to fix it in their 2nd live. So yeah, just a small little interesting thing to notice when looking back their early days.
