It is not so uncommon for Japanese people to marry early I believe. Just part of their culture. I remember an interview where one of the girls said (don't remember who) that when they were younger she pictured herself marrying at around that age. But now they all think a good age to get married is around 28... if i am not mistaken.

You are not mistaken.
For many years 23 was considered the oldest you could still be single, but now that better jobs are becoming available for women the age has got later.

Also now like the west some women would rather have a career than marry at all.
