I disagree with this. I don't really know how to put this in words... but the thing is.. I don't think the purpose of that line is to introduce themselves to people who don't know them. Of course we know who they are otherwise why would we go for their concert? It's their own personal theme after all, and this sentence to me sort of announces their arrival to the stage and the concert. Without that line the song loses its overall charm, impact and power.
I have also noticed that quite a few Japanese bands also do it. I watched a Babymetal concert a few days ago and they said "we are Babymetal" twice during the performance...and that is just one example.
