i only know of scandal zone stereopony and now i'm spazzing over chatmonchy and they're good!

they are also wearing their school uniforms in some performances, they disbanded in 2004

Oh I just remembered... Dixie Chicks. They play country music... I'm not really a fan though.

Kittie - Metal all Girls Band led by the Lander Sisters.. (they are the only original members because there basist and lead guitar has been changed..)

I only support SCANDAL... The first and the only band I support.

this is a fairly new band but Aldious is amazing *o* for those who enjoy visual kei :3 cheeeck them out ^-^!!!

I was just wondering why there are so many Fender Telecaster-wielding girls in the Japanese music scene. I looked at a lot of the bands on this list, and a lot of leads have Telecasters:
Aimi from Stereopony
YUI (not band, but)
Haruna from SCANDAL
Eriko from Chatmonchy
Ikasu from Oreskaband

I didn't know that many of them, though I got to know more from reading threads like this one. Sadly though most all girl bands don't really grab my interest that much. But some do.

First of all, SCANDAL. SCANDAL is awesome, they are the best, period.

Stereopony is very good too, though somehow I don't like them as much as SCANDAL.

Eu Phoria is actually the first all girl band I heard, when I saw their Valentine Jealousy PV. It's a shame they disbanded, I don't know what happened, but oh well so be it. No idea what happened to the others, but nice to see that Tomo is still around. Her outfit in "Lock On!!" is so off the wall but so cute... she is the main reason I watched some of Gacharic Spin's videos, though Koga seems pretty cool too. Other than that I'm not so sure yet what to think of GS

There's also Negoto (ねごと), they're pretty damn awesome

I think the 5678's ( From the movie 'Kill Bill ')were amazing and it is sad
they are not better know, they have toured China, Australia and the USA.

I tend to prefer girl bands and/or female singers based on their music. I don't know why but I haven't found a male group/singer who has really hit me with their music and how I discover most of them? Openings and Endings of anime, so I don't usually know how they look like unless I search for them lol.

MARIA - Known by their opening soundtrack from yakitate!! ja-pan (3rd opening) song title : chiisana uta

ZONE - One of their songs are covered by SCANDAL , nothing else i know about...

Only ones I know from Japan are SCANDAL, Stereopony, and ZONE. Of course. \m/

As for local all-girl bands, I only know General Luna and an indie band from way back called Bent. And internationally, I know of only two bands as well: The Donnas from the US (Musically speaking, IMO, I think they're the closest to SCANDAL as anyone else from the west can get) and Plastiscines from France (Their Barcelona EP is highly recommended; I loved every song in it). :D

Don't forget 'Lilly of the Valley', they are cool !

the only other all girl band that i know and really like is a western band, The Like. Sadly theyre on hiatus as of 2 months ago.

Ditto on The Like but I never got to into them.

I was gonna list Eisley here but then I forgot their bassist and drummer is a dude. Still worth checking for some dreamy indie music.

But my favorite before SCANDAL came around was Sleater Kinney. The lead singer is now on that IFC show Portlandia which is hilarious. Immensely talented ladies.
