Recently I’ve been reading [the manga] ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’. At first the pictures were quite poor, but our manager said to me ‘You should read it, it’s interesting’. In the studio for the recording for this album ‘JoJo’ was arranged. Since I started reading it I’m really into it. A Stand has a guardian spirit like feel. Therefore, I think about my own Stand. I named my Stand ‘Rainbow Battle’ because it’s a Stand of time and space I think about getting to know the future.

I’d space out. Lie face down and wait for sleep.

I joined the light music group at high school but they told me ‘We already have a guitarist. There’s no-one on drums so you’ll be the drummer’. In the 2nd year of high school I was invited to join my senpai’s band called ‘anpontanzu’ [Blockheads or Stupids]) and I became their drummer (laughs). The singer was a girl, guitar and bass were boys, there was another girl on guitar. We played Judy and Mary, Blue Hearts covers etc. and original songs. It felt like a high school band, but we regularly went to a studio for rehearsals and regularly played live in clubs.
Q24. If you turned into a boy for just one day, what would you want to do?
Go to a sentou [public baths]. Go into the men’s baths.

Past! Edo period or Heian period. I want to see the shitamachi (castle town) (laughs). I love history, I like the Great Budhha and other Buddhist images. Therefore, rather than the future, I would like to visit the past and enjoy the mood of those times. If I could really go back, I’d like to wear juuni hitoe (ceremonial kimono) and meet Minamoto-no-Yoritomo.

Here’s a confession from an evening in the park when I was in Junior High School. I was very youthful.
When I was in Junior High School for some reason I liked the Yankee type (laughs). At that time I was in 1st year, but a wonderful 3rd year Yankee senpai suddenly said to me ‘Hey, do you want to go out with me?’. Then he said, “You should be in the Ladies’ (laughs)

White rice.
At first it was breads. It felt like bread in the morning, bread for lunch and bread in the evening (laughs). Nevertheless, through sweet bread, I got interested in rice. Limited to white rice at that. A bowl of rice was no good. Ingredients are there, I’ll only eat those ingredients. I particularly want to do curry roux (sauce) and rice.
