and also i saw their cover of "Satisfaction" by Rolling Stones even if it's just 1min long my jaw dropped that they did an awesome perf.

For me, MAMI IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. I just love her guitar skills~!! <3 who wouldn't love her? well in fact, she's AWESOME. Oh yeah, Haruna can play the guitar too but at the same time, she's singing. Unlike Mami, she doesn't sing much she's the lead guitar and haru's the lead vocal. Which I find it hard too as well for Haru~ ^^

In their Pvs, you can see how Mami put lots of power in playing the guitar, how much more in live!~ she's trying her best ne~ everybody can see that~ :D more power to Mami!!~ rock on~ \m/

I also like the fact that she didn't panic during that time on XMAS Live 2009 when her guitar string broke. Good thing it didn't break in the middle of the SCANDAL Baby lick.

Really? Which part did she broke a string? I watched it a gazillion times and I didnt notice it.

Anyway, there are times that she makes mistakes on live performance like in Animax, but still like everyone in the band theyre constantly improving their skills, Rina's drum playing is getting more complex and Tomo is starting to learn to bass slap almost the same style as F Chopper Koga.
In some of her blogs I remember reading that she always wanted to play on live to improve her guitar skills, this is one thing I like about this band, you can see their passion to play and you can see them grow and improve and try different genres. .balloon.

It was near the end if I recall correctly.

I took a screencap of it awhile back where it clearly shows that the string snapped, and Mami is "air guitar"ing.

EDIT: Couldn't find the original one I took, so I took another one. It was during SCANDAL BABY at around 42 minutes.

@topic MAMI's a good guitarist indeed. And yes she still have a long journey to reach her full potential. If you ask any guitarists (or musicians in general) whether do he/she thinks their musical skill's enough or not, almost all will answer that their skill's not enough, and they still have many things to learn. John Petrucci said that, Adrian Smith too, and many others. She'll improve as the time passes I believe. Constant learning for musicians is a must anyway heheh

Yeah, she has a lot of great rock n' roll covers but i've never seen her face yet, haha. I heard she has a blog showing her face but i haven't seen it yet.

Something just occured to me. Tomomi once said that she likes Flea of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and watching him was what pushed her into picking bass over guitar. Has Mami ever mentioned anywhere who her favourite guitar players are?

@macdyne Really she likes flea's bass playing? that's pretty interesting, seems scandal had heavier influences that what i imagined.
Though, I haven't heard any of Mami's favorite, if its from red hot too that would be hard to know, they had like 10 guitarists on their career! .nerd.

Yeah, it's really weird when you think about it? I mean, "Who are your influences?" seems to be the most logical question a reporter/journalist could ask a guitarist right?

Yeah, I really want to know who's her influence, or every members on that matter. If I recall correctly in SCANDAL members profile their influence aren't mentioned. Maybe someone who knows could contribute??

I couldn't agree more! Now I wish they'd record Satisfaction. It would soooo rock! I'd probably like it more than the original even.

It just shows again IMO that Mami really is a rock guitarist. Yes, she'll get even better over time, but she is already good enough to rock the house and then some.

But technical skill is only part of being a great guitarist, Mami has not only skill, but also passion and style and good taste in music, and that is why she is one of the best.

Lol, you really can't compare Haruna to Mami, although I'd wish they'd pull of a Punk en Ciel kind of move and switch roles. Love to see Haru on lead guitar and Mami on rhythm guitar, and she's the one who sings. Or maybe Mami on the bass xD

In my opinion, her guitar skills will improve as time goes on. But actually, I'm satisfied with her guitar skills right now. Mami-san guitar solo part always echoing inside my head
